SeaTac International Airport

For those travelling from outside of Washington, SeaTac will most likely have the most options. There is also an airport in Everett and Bellingham that are closer to the San Juan Islands. But we suggest SeaTac if you want to take a seaplane. Please see multiple options listed below to get to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island.

Flight

Friday Harbor Sea Planes or Kenmore air

The Thorps have been flying with Friday Harbor Seaplanes for decades (Mitchell pictured above in his awkward years). It is such an exciting experience that makes the travel time from SeaTac to Friday Harbor only about an hour! The planes take off from the water of Lake Washington (about a ten min uber from the airport) and lands right in Friday Harbor. You fly over downtown Seattle, the Puget Sound and many of the San Juan Islands! You may even spot an orca from the air. This is definitely more of a pricey option but we truly think it is worth it to take at least one direction :) since the Thorps have been loyal customers to Friday Harbor Seaplanes over the years so they have generously offered us a discount code for our guests THORPWED24 Kenmore Air is another great option with lots of flights! Also please note the airline's luggage weight limit!

Shuttle

Bellair Shuttle

Bel Air shuttles offer rides from SeaTac airport to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal. If you are planning to take the ferry this is a great way to get to the ferry landing! We highly recommend booking tickets in advance. We have also reserved a shuttle for wedding guests on Sunday afternoon from Anacortes Ferry Landing (taking the 11am ferry) to SeaTac Airport (see more details on Sunday's Itinerary if you are interested).

Rental Car

Turo app & Other Rental Car Companies

If you want to have a car on the island, the Turo app or using credit card points for other rental companies are great options. The ferry terminal is about a 90 minute drive from the airport and you can drive straight on to the ferry! Having a car on the island is a great way to explore different areas and there is plenty of over night parking at the venue. Ferry car reservations are available starting two months out from the day of travel. Be sure to sign on right at 7am to ensure a reservation. You also have the option to park at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal and walk on to the ferry. Parking is around ~13/day and we recommend getting there early to ensure a spot.

Travel Note

San Juan Island Ferry

There are NO ferries directly from Seattle to Friday Harbor. The closest ferry landing is Anacortes which is about 1.5-2 hours from Seattle. The ferry ride is a gorgeous ~1 hour journey through the San Juan Islands that drops you off directly in downtown Friday Harbor. There is a bar onboard and you may even see some orcas along the way! Reservations can be tricky to get if you are planning to bring a car. Reservations are available now but more are available at 2 weeks out & 2 days out. If you are unable to get a reservation in advance, you can always try day of or just park in Anacortes and walk on. Passenger tickets are $15 round trip :) you can buy them online before as well.

Hotel

Hotels in Downtown Friday Harbor

There are many wonderful hotels downtown Friday Harbor that will be within walking distance to many restaruants, attractions, trolleys and the shuttle stop. They will also be within walking distance of the Brewery and our venue (~1.5miles). We highly recommend using booking sites like Hotels.com, Booking.com or Kayak to check pricing options.

House Or Rental

AirBnb and VRBO

There are many amazing AirBnbs and VRBOs in and around Friday Harbor. We definitely reccomend staying within walking distance of the town/shuttle stop but if you are bringing a car there are some spectacular options all around the island. There is also plenty of overnight parking at the venue if you needed to leave a car there. Do note ubers/taxis are not easy to come by on the island.
