When asked this question, the answer always leads back to just a normal Tuesday night at Asbury Park Kickball during the Summer of 2019. Yes, you read that right. Every Tuesday during the warmer months in New Jersey, many adults enjoyed channeling their inner child for a few hours by kicking a red playground ball around in front of the Asbury Hotel, including the couple who are about to tie the knot. One of the first true interactions between the couple was when Chris questioned Jess's odd choice of wearing a Christmas T-Shirt on June 25th during a Tuesday kickball game. Jess excitedly shared that "today is halfway to Christmas"! to which Chris's immediate response was "so does that mean next week you'll show up to kickball wearing a halfway to New Year's T-shirt"? Let's just say that this conversation did not result in any immediate sparks flying and nearly a full month past before Jess & Chris had any sort of interaction again. On July 30, 2019, once again, Jess & Chris found each other at a kickball game having a new conversation related to another one of Jess's t-shirt choices (this time it was from the Smithwick's Brewery in Ireland). After the game and some Tuesday tacos with the team, the couple had their first impromptu date at Johnny Macs. This time, the two could sense there was some sort of chemistry brewing between them and the conversations were evolving from more than Jess's weekly wardrobe choices. Fast forward to 5 years and many kickball games, road trips and even a relocation to Greenville South Carolina later, on May 24, 2024, Chris got down on one knee and proposed to Jess during an early evening hike through the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas. Now the couple is ready for their next great adventure of saying "I Do" and to celebrate with those who mean the most to them.
