This is it. The reason you come to San Antonio. You can take a tour, which is honestly a little underwhelming, or simply get a photo in front of it. If you are interested in the rest of the San Antonio missions from SA's Spanish Colonial past, you can hike or bike the Mission Trail (visit https://www.nps.gov/saan/planyourvisit/hikebike.htm for more info)
Everybody knows San Antonio is famous for the Riverwalk, but what most non-San Antonians consider the Riverwalk is about 1/4 of the whole thing. A fun way to see the whole Riverwalk (or travel throughout the city) is by a river taxi. Go to goriocruises.com for more info
Considered by many to be the crown jewel of San Antonio's downtown revitalization, The Pearl is an old brewery that has been converted into several shops, bars and restaurants. Hotel Emma has been rated one of the best hotels in the world so it is definitely worth it to walk through the lobby. The Farmers Market is always a great way to get lunch or snacks (hours are Saturdays, 9am - 1pm & Sundays, 10am - 2pm). We also encourage you to check out High Street Wine, since they will be providing the wine for our wedding (and it's our fav wine bar in SA). All of the employees are either sommeliers or training to become somms, and would be happy to create a customized wine flight based on your tastes. Cured is our go-to restaurant for celebrations. Make sure to get a charc board since they are known for their in house cured meats.
In the Great Taco Wars of 2016, Austin was completely demolished by the great city of San Antonio, forever cementing the Alamo City's status as the premiere taco destination of Texas. This is one of our favorite places to get breakfast tacos (a true SA delicacy). Act like a local and get a bean and cheese, but all are good options. They even deliver on a number of delivery apps if you don’t want to get out of bed. Warning: they are huge. Other good breakfast taco spots: Taqueria Datapoint, Taco Taco, Garcias Mexican Food
Definitely a regular spot for us. We have seen it grow from a home-use fryer, to a totally completed kitchen and updated menu. Pretty much everything is good on the menu, but we recommend going in a group so you can try a little of everything. Don't shy away from the PB&J wings. Warning: The San Antonio hot is only for those who don't fear spice. They are extremely hot. They also have a very good beer selection (if you're into that sort of thing)
Believe it or not, San Antonio is a huge coffee town with tons of shops and roasters. Including Estate, some of our other favorites include: -Local (Broadway location for the original, or Pearl if you are already down there) -Brown (they are very strict about what you can and cannot order, however their dirty cold brew is unbeatable) -Mila Coffee truck in the Broadway News complex -Eclipse Coffee popup inside of Little Death until 3pm. If you want to talk to someone passionate about coffee for 23% longer than you would actually want to, Solomon is your man. Of course there are too many others to mention. Odds are it will be pretty good.
Great pizza with unique toppings (they briefly had a foie gras pizza) or you can get a pizza with 'normal' toppings. Their arugula salad is a must Get some Lambrusco wine and you won't be disappointed
Our favorite spot for natural wine in maybe the whole world (mainly because we are treated with the respect and dignity that is bestowed upon Regulars).
SEAsian curry x Texas BBQ is the pairing you never knew you needed. Right across the street from Little Death if you want to grab a bite and pair it with a glass of wine.
Small batch kombucha, dialed in drip coffee, good vibes
A somewhat higher end Tex Mex place. Great margs and large patio make this a great place to eat outside. They can handle large groups if you call in advance, but this is a very popular spot, especially on the weekends.
A late night staple for many, you really can't go wrong with a taco truck that always parks in front of a male strip club (where a former bully of Kevin danced). It opens at 9:30 pm and lasts until about 3 am, so you have plenty of time to get your fix. Definitely try the al pastor mini tacos and a corn in a cup (Erin's fav)
A Peruvian focused restaurant that gets all the choice natural wine bottles. Taylor pulls a very good espresso if you need an evening pickmeup.
A parking lot filled with trailers with coffee, vintage clothing, food and other shops. The main brick and mortar store, Richter Goods, makes custom clothing that I'm sure Mario (the owner) would be happy to ship to you, unless you love your time in San Antonio and want to make a return trip.
San Antonio's newest contemporary art space. Come here if you want to see some weirder things than San Antonio Museum of Art has to offer.
Pretty self explanatory, except they also do brunch here on Sundays if you want to kill two birds with one stone.
Taco, Navi (RIP) and Boz wanted us to add this. Not sure why. I don't think Churro has even looked at our website yet.
One of San Antonio's many museums, this is the closest to downtown (walking distance from The Pearl via the Riverwalk). This also used to be an old brewery (what's the deal with San Antonio and old breweries?).
