Q: Can I bring my kids to this event? A: No! This is an adults-only weekend, preferably 21+. While we absolutely adore your little ones, this weekend is designed as a magical escape just for grown-ups. Expect a lot of mischief, late-night laughter, & riverside revelry. We hope this gives you a chance to relax, let loose, & enjoy a rare adventure of your own - no babysitting spells required!
Q: Is there a dress code for the Ceremony & Reception? A: Yes, we kindly ask you to leave all shades of black behind (this includes all clothing, belts, shoes, & other accessories) and instead invite you to dress in colors that breathe life into the magic all around us! Think jewel tones, fairy pastels, glimmering fabrics, and/or garden patterns & hues. We encourage attire that feels whimsical & free - tulle, beading, mesh, flowy materials, & anything with a touch of sparkle or poof will be right at home among the trees & water. Think garden party! It will be extremely warm, so once the stars rise & the music calls, feel free to slip into something lighter & more dance-ready for the evening revelry. Bring flower crowns & fairy wings if you're feeling bold - this is the weekend for it!
Q: Will food & drinks be provided all weekend? A: No! While the bride & groom will be conjuring up some meals & beverages for a few special moments throughout the weekend, you'll want to come prepared for the journey! Guests are kindly asked to bring their own snacks, meals, and favorite potions (yes, that includes water & alcohol) for the rest of the festivities. You'll find details on what's being provided on our Itinerary page. Everything else is up to your adventurous spirit (& grocery list)! Plan your pilgrimage to Costco, Sam's Club, or Publix (a.k.a. best grocery store ever), & don't forget to stop by a liquor store before entering Lenoir, NC. Our venue is in a semi-dry county, and those magical elixirs will be hard to summon once you arrive! Please see our Travel page for more information regarding food & drinks you should bring.
Q: Are pets allowed at the property! A: No! While Brown Mountain Beach Resort welcomes many creatures, we kindly ask that you leave your beloved furry friends at home for this weekend celebration. The grounds are shared with live, working farm animals who call this place their home. To keep peace of the pasture & the magic of the moment, we ask that pets stay cozy & safe in care from afar. We appreciate you helping us protect the harmony of this enchanted place!
Q: What kind of things should I pack for this weekend? A: Other than the basics, here is a list of what we recommend bringing for this spellbinding weekend: - Casual outfits - Wedding & Reception outfit - Swimwear - Swim floaties - Extra towels - River shoes/sandals - Sunscreen & bug spray - Hats & sunglasses - Flashlight - Reusable water bottle - Coolers & koozies - Music speakers - Cash for rentals & cafe Brown Mountain Beach Resort has kayaks, canoes, & paddle boards, for us to enjoy! They will also supply tubes for the tubing excursion on Friday, 7/18.
Q: Will there be cell phone service at the resort? A: Nope! We want to invite you all to put up your devices & be present with your family! However, they do have Wi-Fi available to use up at the Rock Pavilion & main deck area.
