Just down the road from the wedding venue, you can explore one of the top selling water brands in the U.S., Poland Spring! The Poland Spring Resort & Preservation offers a variety of options including a full scale hotel, musuem, and many amenities including an 18 hole golf course! Located about 8 miles from the wedding venue/recommended hotels is a beautiful 18 hole golf course in Gray, Maine. Beautiful to see during the Autumn months!
Portland, Maine
From history and landmarks to craft brews and LAHBSTAH bites, there are so many reasons to see Portland, Maine. If you arrive on Sunday, the 18th, enjoy your time in this beautiful coastal city that offers a variety of restaurants, breweries, dispensaries, beaches, and more!
Bissell Brothers Brewing Company
If you are a beer connoisseur and love New England beer, then you will not be disappointed with the Bissell Brothers Brewing Company (Chris's favorite in Maine!). Bissell Brothers is one of the top rated breweries in New England. Their beer is found in very rare locations, so it is best to visit the location in Portland, Maine, next to the Amtrak station.
Allagash Brewing Company
One of the most popular New England beers located just outside of Portland. The Belgian-style beer maker offers guided tours, dining, and includes a gift shop.
Salt Cellar
Located in the middle of downtown Portland is a uniquely relaxing and restorative experience. Here, you can see the largest Himalayan salt lamp in North America weighing in at nearly 500 pounds! The "Salt Valt" is a state of the art facility offering both a relaxing and comfortable escape with the most advanced salt aeration technology available, which can help with anyone with sinus or respiratory conditions. Participants lie on a comfortable ‘zero-gravity’ chair and breath in the salty air for 50 minutes. (Sarah and Chris did this and LOVED IT!) Reservations can be made online and walk ins are acceptable. $25 - $40 for either individuals or groups. The size, shape and air-tight construction of the Salt Vault make it ideal for even distribution of the dry salt mist.
Coastal Maine
While visiting southern Maine, you'll definitely want to experience the rocky shores and iconic lighthouses. You can visit Portland, Brunswick, Cape Elizabeth, Kennebunkport, Ogunquit, Camden, and more! All of these cities sit close to I-95 and are well within an 1.5 hour driving distance.
Acadia National Park | Bar Harbor, Maine (BAH HAHBAH)
Located about 153 miles from the wedding venue is the spectacular Acadia National Park. If you're looking into New England nature prior to the wedding or right after, then you won't want to miss this iconic National Park. Bar Harbor is filled with nature, hiking, boat activities, beaches, seafood restaurants, breweries, whale watching, camping, and shopping. Closest airport would be the Bangor International Airport and is about 2.5 hours driving distance from the wedding venue.
Boston
Looking into a full New England experience prior or after the wedding? Perhaps check out one of the oldest and most historic cities in America! Boston is filled with a variety to see including Fenway Park, Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall, "Cheers" restaurant, Boston Tea Party site, Harvard University, top rated restaurants, breweries, nature trails, and more! Boston is about 153 miles south of the wedding venue with a 2.5 hour driving distance. Amtrak is also available round trip between Boston and Portland for a very low rate! You're sure to have a "WICKED" good time!
