How We Met

The year: 2015. The place: Lancaster, PA. Specifically: The Lobby of The Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre

In September of 2015, we had what we call in the theatre world, a "crossover". Chris had been performing West Side Story all summer, and Sarah had just arrived at the same theatre to begin rehearsals for the next show. Ah, the crossover romance! We had already heard about one another from mutual friends, but had never officially met. (Special thanks to our dear friend, Sami, for finding sneaky ways to "Yente" us from afar for those few weeks of crossover.) Chris introduced himself in the lobby after one of his shows, but Sarah has no recollection of this encounter. A few nights later, the cast put on a cabaret, and post-cabaret, we began talking and basically never stopped. This encounter, Sarah DOES remember. Specifically because Chris sang one of her favorite songs that night, and as soon as he started singing, she thought "oh shoot". The rest was history. From there, we spent our time talking about life & the galaxy, singing about small potatoes, and slowly realizing how incredibly strange we each are. Over the years, we'd conquer NYC together, travel through Europe with one another singing and dancing on Cruise Ships, make moves to Orlando, FL, travel through Asia performing the Wizard of Oz, and much more. We'd also conquer months at a time of long distance, while the other was away chasing their dreams. These days, we love to prioritize going hiking, roller blading, eating lots of cheese, getting in tune with our strangest selves, spending quality time with the ones we love most, and, of course, producing incredibly weird rap music videos. We believe that life is short (as is Sarah), so we decided to have a big party with our dear family and friends to celebrate our love! If you're reading this, thanks for being here and supporting us!

Our Engagement

The Year: 2020. The Place: Blue Ridge Mountains. Specifically: The Overlook Summit of the Benton Mackaye Trail

Here's what you need to know before diving in: 1. Sarah has an amateur passion for rapping. 2. She loves Moana and the mountains. 3. In 2016 when Chris was going to be performing overseas for 6 months, Sarah gave him a "bag of love". It was a bag filled with little white pieces of paper, each with a different sentiment of love that Chris could draw from for each day they were apart. 4. For our 5 year anniversary, we took a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Engagement time: On 11/30/2020, we hiked the Benton Mackaye Trail. We reached the summit, and set up camp for a picnic with some stellar views. Chris set up the tripod behind us to "take a pic". He secretly pressed record, so we have all of this on video. Sarah, unaware she was being recorded, was belching loudly over the mountaintop as she sipped champagne (dm for burping vids). Suddenly, Chris said "I have something for you", and pulled a mini Christmas tree out of his backpack. Then he said "let's decorate this tree." He proceeded have Sarah unwrap 5 gifts. Each was a pendant of the Heart of Te Fiti that Chris had crafted into an ornament. One heart for each year they had been together. Sarah then opened 3 more gifts- 2 ornaments of photos from when they first met, and one "tree topper" (a picture of the potato they placed on their first Christmas tree together.) Finally, Chris said "I think we need some snow", and he pulled out the Bag of Love, which Sarah had no idea he had saved all this time. He sprinkled the little handwritten sentiments on the ground beneath our mini tree. Next Chris said, "now that our tree is decorated, and in honor of our 5 Hearts of Te Fiti, I have something for you." He pulled up the karaoke track of "You're Welcome" from Moana, and began... to... RAP. He had re-written the lyrics of the rap break in the song to be about our 5 years together. In the end, instead of "what can I say except you're welcome?" it was, "What can I say except... will you marry me?" *photo of tree below* <3
