If you have seen pictures of Lake Tahoe, there's a good chance that the photos are of Emerald Bay and Fanette Island. It's a short walk down to the State Park where you can walk the grounds of Vikingsholm and get a view of Fanette Island as well as access the 2 mi hike to Eagle Falls. Parking is limited, so also worth getting there early!

The Lake Tahoe Basin is known for some of the best mountain biking in the Sierras. With trails for all abilities and ages mountain biking is a great way to tour the area. For the family, including young kids, the bike path around Tahoe City offers beautiful views, a great way to spend an afternoon and even spots to cool off in the Truckee River. For riders that are a little more adventurous there some beautiful, fully maintained single track trails all around the area that will take you deep into the woods behind Tahoe City for as many miles as you want to ride. And for advanced riders that really want to push the envelope of the most adrenaline pumping riding in the area, NorthStar has an incredible downhill mountain biking park, complete with gap jumps, built features and chairlift rides up.
