Meet Zach Haley - A friend that will last a lifetime I met Zach Haley when I was stationed in Naples, Italy, and we were roommates for most of our time there! We were both part of the Capo family at the Naval Branch Health Clinic Capodichino, and that bond has stuck with us ever since. Now, years later, we consider each other as brothers, and we still share plenty of nerdy interests—The Name of the Wind being one of our favorites. Zach’s been with me through thick and thin, and I’m beyond grateful to have him by my side as my best man on this special day.

Meet Dornaz Bazmi – My Best Friend Dornaz is one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met. She’s hardworking, brilliant, and stunningly beautiful, inside and out. We met in college, and even then, I could see how extraordinary she was. After undergrad, she went on to earn her PhD in just 3.5 years—a feat she never boasts about because of her humble nature. One of my favorite things about her is her curly hair, which I lovingly call her ‘curly fry hair.’ She’s also one of the few people I know who’s shorter than me, which always makes me smile. But it’s her kindness and sweetness that truly set her apart. She has this amazing ability to make everyone around her feel special, going out of her way to be kind, even to strangers. At the same time, she’s strong and fearless, standing up for herself and others when it matters most. She is the kind of person who makes life better just by being in it, and I am a better person just for knowing her.

Meet Keishin Matos - My brother who is always there for me Keishin is my older brother, and we are a lot alike in many ways. Even though we don’t share the same mom, that has never mattered—he’s my brother, no matter what. We may not have lived with each other while growing up, we share memories that I will always cherish. As we have gotten older, Kei has consistently supported me as an older brother, giving me advice and comforting me when needed. I am glad that he can share this day with me and that he can stand by my side. Even though we live far apart, Keishin’s presence and influence have always been felt, and I’m so grateful to have him standing by my side on this special day. He’s not just my brother—he’s one of my best friends, and I couldn’t imagine this day without him.

Meet Francine Singson – A Friend for Life Francine and I first crossed paths as new staff members at the CSUSM STEM Center, where we quickly bonded over our shared experiences and mutual passion for supporting students. Though we started as strangers, we became fast friends, navigating the ups and downs of our new roles together. Over time, our friendship deepened, and even though she now lives in Virginia, the distance has never changed the strength of our connection. One of the things that always reminds me of how special our friendship is, is a Winnie the Pooh quote we both love: “How lucky am I to have something so special, that makes saying goodbye so hard.” This quote perfectly captures how much our bond means to both of us—the kind of friendship that’s so precious, you never want to let it go. Francine’s support, kindness, and genuine spirit have made her such a cherished part of my life, and I’m so thankful to have her by my side on this special day.

Meet Art Malig - A friend to travel with and someone who will always be there for me Similarly to Zach, Art and I met while we were stationed in Naples, Italy. Art is genuinely one of the sweetest, kindest people you’ll ever meet, and I think of him as a brother. Recently, we had the chance to bond even more on a cruise to the Bahamas for the Fourth of July, where we made unforgettable memories together. His positive energy and unwavering support mean the world to me, and I’m incredibly lucky to have him standing by my side on this special day.

Meet Kelly Carlson – A Wonderful Friend I first met Kelly through Cameron, as she is married to Zach, one of Cameron’s best friends. From the moment we connected, we bonded over our shared love for plants, and our friendship grew quickly. One of our favorite activities to do together is barre workouts. I brought Kelly along with me, and we’ve had a blast supporting each other through the classes, often laughing through the burn. Kelly’s warmth, kindness, and infectious energy have made her such a special part of my life. We’ve witnessed each other’s growth over the years, and now, as we both reach new milestones—me getting married and her already having found her happily ever after—it’s a reminder of how quickly time passes. Wendy is truly my ride or die, always there when it matters most, regardless of the time that’s passed between our catch-ups. We share an abundance of interests and that led into him being a close friend and someone that I would want to stand next to me at my wedding.

Meet Elisa Hernandez – My Little Sister Elisa is my younger cousin, but she’s always felt more like a sister to me. I’ve known her since the very first day she was born, and I’ve had the privilege of watching her grow into the amazing young woman she is today. Though she’s now a freshman in high school, it feels like just yesterday I was holding her in my arms. Our bond has always been strong, and I’ve loved being a part of her journey as she navigates the ups and downs of life. Elisa has such a quiet, caring nature, and I’m so proud of the person she’s becoming. I’m so happy to have her by my side on this special day and excited to see all the wonderful things she will continue to achieve.
