The answer to both questions is yes. The US recently changed the law requiring everyone entering the US to take a Covid-19 Test before entering the country. We have a doctor coming to Selina on Saturday, we will be able to perform the tests and results will be ready that day. Please see information on "Schedule", prices and type of test can be found there. There are also pop up testing sites all around town. You can also get tested at the airport and various other places around town. Note: you need to take the test with in 72 hours before your flight, so the accomodations provided will only work for those who leave with in 72 hours of Saturday's testing time.
You DO need a passport, but if you are coming from the US or EU, you do NOT need a visa. Make sure your passport is not expiring within the six months ahead of the wedding (just in case)!
The conversion from pesos to USD is usually around 20:1 (Pesos:USD). Note: You'll see the $ sign associated with costs but this represents the Mexican Peso, not the US Dollar!
Many restaurants, bars, and other establishments take credit cards, but it's always great to have Pesos handy! Taxi's will require cash in Tulum. There currently aren't any services like Uber or Lyft. USD is accepted, but Peso can get you the best rate. ATMs are widely available, but you can always order Pesos from your bank ahead of your visit. This will save you the large fees charged by currency exchange institutions at the airport. Be sure to check with your bank on foreign transaction and ATM fees! Note: Cards like the Chase Sapphire have no foreign transaction fees, and award double the points on travel! You’ll have the opportunity to withdraw cash from ATMs once you land. Just be sure you’ll be *able* to withdraw money—and let your bank know about your travel plans ahead of time. The best way to get around Tulum is by taxi. You can walk or bike to the beaches, to the ruins and to Tulum Pueblo, but there's a chance of overexerting yourself. Uber and Lyft are not available in Tulum.
While knowing key phrases in Spanish is helpful, it isn’t necessary to speak Spanish in order to get around Tulum. Many of the people who live and work in the city speak English, but apps like Google Translate and SpanishDict go a long way if you're ever in a pinch. Your health and safety are of the utmost concern. We completely understand those who may not feel comfortable traveling at this time and hope you will toast with us from afar. For attendees, the welcome event, ceremony, and cocktail hour will be held outside, on the beach. Dinner and dancing will be in Mia Restaurant, an indoor/outdoor concept.
