Travel Note
We recommend booking this beforehand and please be aware that you are required by Ireland law to purchase insurance. This is not a country where the insurance can be used from a credit card company, and the rental contract may make insurance sound optional - it is not. The car rental company may also reject a third party insurance or require a large deposit because of it. We have used Enterprise both times and have not had any issues.
Travel Note
If you are planning on making this a vacation, we recommend Great Value Vacations. We aren't getting paid to say that - the bride travelled to Ireland x2 through Great Values. Their packages for 2 or 4 people include car rental, airfare, and hotel or b&b.
Flight
Airports - No matter your starting point, we advise you fly into Dublin (DUB) airport. If you enjoy a drive through Irish countryside, you can drive to our ultimate destination in Co. Mayo - but the 3 hour drive can be daunting. If you prefer to fly, Knock (NOC) airport is closest but will require a layover in Dublin. Airline Recommendations - Aer Lingus, British Airways, Lufthansa, Ryanair
Train
Travel through the Irish countryside by train from Dublin to the city nearest to our venue, the city of Ballina.
Travel Note
Bed & Breakfasts are one of the best experiences in Ireland - getting to meet locals and get their insight into where to go and what to do led us to some incredible places. There are several in Ballina and nearby. We have added a few below along with other options for accommodations.

If you want to stay at the castle, please reach out to the bride - we can have rooms reserved for you and get rates. If you book through their website, rooms aren’t available until two months before the date. Rates for manor rooms are €250 and deluxe are €270. These prices are based on two people sharing and include breakfast.
