He knew he had her from the first date. That's what James would say if you asked him, and he was right. From that first date at the Fox's Den in Annapolis, to their trips to Philadelphia, Charleston, the Rockefeller Tree, Times Square, swimming with sharks in Tampa, Jameson, Guinness, and most recently to the shores of Ireland, Camden and James have tried to make each others' dreams reality. And on Halloween on the Cliffs of Moher another dream came true. After days spent challenging Camden's fear of heights, James would face the ultimate challenge - convincing Camden to stand on the edge of the cliffs for his planned proposal. They started the morning with breakfast in Limerick before heading down the narrow roads to the Cliffs. James tried to take a selfie for the photographer at breakfast, but Camden was having none of that. They stopped at the visitor center and James excused himself to the toilet - AKA going to meet up with the photographer while Camden looked through the gift shop. James returned and they started toward the Cliffs. Camden wanted to go right - she had been there before and knew the best views - but James insisted on going left. Camden took photos and videos along the way while James tried to lead her to the perfect spot. James hopped the fence to the cliffside and Camden refused to follow, staying on the safe but muddy path. James texted the photographer for a Plan B, and as the paths merged together, he convinced Camden to go (marginally) closer to the edge. Even when James told her he hired a photographer and could she PLEASE cooperate so he could propose, Camden didn't believe him. Even when he pulled off her glove and got down on one knee and pulled out a box. But the answer was Yes, just as he knew it would be from that first date.
Phrases you may hear: Céad míle fáilte - a hundred thousand welcomes Sláinte - a word literally translating as "health" in several Gaelic languages and is commonly used as a drinking toast in Ireland and Scotland Both James and Camden feel strongly about their Irish heritage and connection with the motherland. It prompted their trip to Ireland in October 2019, and made their engagement at the Cliffs of Moher that much more meaningful. The couple will be married in Ireland and hope to some day make it their home. Besides the location, Camden and James are also incorporating different Irish traditions and words into the wedding. Some fun traditions you might notice are kilts, bells, and wildflowers.
