Caribbean-inspired food that you will never forget. Seriously, we have never eaten anything less than amazing here. Andrew recommends The Nolan (if you like spicy) and Calla recommends Soul Rebel and a Painkiller! (both locations are great, but we the prefer West AVL location)
We went here as one of several parts of our first date! Grab a flute of bubbly, explore the shelves, and lounge in style!
Incredible local ice cream shop owned by other UNCA alums! Their flavors rotate seasonally, but Calla loves the Rum Raisin and Andrew loves the Sea Monkey.
Our favorite college dive bar - if you want a very chill experience (and perhaps a cheap drink and a game of pool) this is the place for you.
One of our go-to spots for date nights when we lived in Asheville! Grab a bite (or many), grab a drink (we love the Lemon Space Dog American Wheat Ale & the Rocket Girl Lager), and maybe see a movie while you're there! Highly recommend the totchos and the Mangum P.I.E. and Moon Pie pizzas.
Our alma mater, affectionately monikered UNC-Almost. See the small, beautiful campus where we somehow didn't meet until after Andrew graduated! Make sure to see the Botanical Gardens and the view of Mount Pisgah from the library steps!
You can't throw a rock in South Slope without hitting one of the many breweries, so there's bound to be something you like! We also recommend Antidote for you gin lovers out there.
Our go-to special occasion Italian place! We've celebrated Valentine's Days, birthdays, anniversaries, and Calla's graduation here.
We took our engagement photos here! Located in the historic Asheville Citizen Times building, you can search for some vinyl for your collection, see records get pressed, grab brunch, sip on a latte or a cocktail, or just enjoy the history of the space!
Calla worked here in college and still highly recommends it! Andrew loves the Bangkok Shrimp and the Crispy Chicken BLT and Calla dreams of the Mole Roasted Duck and the Crispy Pork Belly (extra crispy).
A really cool place to see if you want to explore a historic landmark without paying Biltmore prices. Walk around the hotel grounds, grab a bite to eat, or enjoy a drink on the terrace at sunset.
