Kayla has been there from the beginning. High school cross country meets, country music concerts, college visits, being Caitlin's wedding date probably as many times as Wes has been, and marrying Caitlin's childhood friend Keaton. She also spent a night with Wes, Ryley and Caitlin playing pool in Bozeman years before they started dating. Somewhere there is a photo from that night that was unable to be located.
Paige Van Rossum
Bridesmaid
Paige and Caitlin went to St. Norbert together and crossed paths at a few house parties through their friend Sami! Paige moved to Bozeman for grad school where their friendship took off. Countless running miles, fish that were not caught, beers, impromptu activites and bad decisions have been made together. They’ve stayed in touch through trail races and their desire to not be working. Fun fact, her grandma lived next to Caitlin's great grandpa in Green Bay, and then next to Caitlin's dad.
Janelle Schultz
Bridesmaid
Caitlin and Janelle were roommates in a pivotal time in their life in Bozeman, actually meeting through a Craigslist ad. Wine walks, working at a remote tech start up together, reality TV during covid, and Janelle's late night deviled eggs bonded them for life. Fun fact, Janelle and Wes were in each other's freshman orientation class at Montana State University!
Mallory Orms
Bridesmaid
Caitlin and Mallory met on an adult kickball league, not long after each of them moved to Bozeman. The two of them went camping together a few weeks after that, seemingly both open to friendship since they had just met and it was just the two of them going. They worked at Republic Services together where Mallory convinced Caitlin to get a dog, and that she would help her raise it. And she did! Friends to the end, concerts, spartan races, hot springs trips, organizing lady backpacking weekends, and training for Mallory's frist and last trail race together while typically incredibly hungover.
Ryley Enich
Best Man
Ryley and Wes met their freshman year in architecture school, spending countless late nights in the studio together. They lived together for a couple of years during that time, biking home to grill lunch at least twice a week, even through winter. They joined the MSU cycling team, where they realized how insane the competition could be, and finished a race with Taco Bell in their pockets. The next year, Wes joined Ryley and his family for RATPOD, a 130-mile bike ride in the Pioneer Mountains in Montana. They spent every spring break in Utah, backpacking, biking, or both.
Curran Ditmeyer
Groomsman
Cur is Wes's younger and more athletic, better-looking brother (someone had to say it). They've been soccer teammates since 2001, the longest-running and most in-sync, practicing with cones and a family-made full-size goal in the backyard. They've racked up innumerable miles in the car together, whether it was up to Canada or down to Iowa to see family, out west to ski, or east to DC for the first time. Curran is an all-around athlete, from team sports to individual ones, and recently helped Wes join the 1000 Pound Club (a lifting thing). As a doctor, he's also a good emergency contact for mountain biking injuries.
Nick Jensen
Groomsman
Wessels and Schmick met in their sophomore year at MSU on an indoor soccer team that had a questionable record, but what wasn't questionable were the good times they had. Nick is Wes's most frequent roommate (other than Curran), living together with Austin and Conor at different times. It's rumored they once finished a game of beer pong at a crowded party in a single turn. They are each other's buddy-system concert partner, whether it was the frequent 3-hour trip to Missoula or meeting across the country in Newport after they both left Bozeman. Last year, they went to Costa Rica together with a handful of friends to celebrate their 30th birthdays.
Conor Whalen
Groomsman
The first time Conor came from New York to visit his sister (now Ryley's wife) in Montana, he met Wes and the two quickly bonded over cars and dogs. Wes usually had to stay in town through Thanksgiving break to finish an architecture project, so they spent most holidays together, cooking and watching movies, ending the night at the scoop (iykyk). They later lived together, often smoking dinner on the Traeger Austin had to keep at their house. Conor worked at the airport during college and shared his flight benefits with Wes to fuel their shared travel bug, even competing in the Running of the Bulls together in Spain in 2019.
Austin Stowell
Officiant
Austin has known Wes and Caitlin well through their relationship. Wes and Austin lived together during college, and had weekly watch parties or movie nights for whatever was new on HBO, often ordering calzones from the pizza place down the hill. They share an interest in woodworking and furniture making, always finding each other's imperfections in the name of craftsmanship. Fun fact: Austin was Caitlin's UPS delivery driver for a time in Bozeman.
