The biggest surprise for visitors to Denver is the climate. The arid conditions bring only 8 to 15 inches of annual precipitation and locals wake up to more than 300 days of sunshine a year. In summer, Denver enjoys low relative humidity, making for beautiful, sun-filled days and cool, comfortable evenings. The average daily high temperature in August is a mild 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The mild weather is due in part to the city's altitude: 5,280 feet above sea level, or exactly a mile high. The temperature in August is a high of 90° and low of 59°. While sunny and warm during the day, having an extra layer for the evening is important. Quick, summertime afternoon showers are common in Denver. Wedding ceremony will be held outdoors, pending weather/rain.
The wedding ceremony will begin at 5pm; we encourage guests to arrive between 4:30-4:45pm.
While there is no formal dress code, we recommend cocktail attire or dressy casual.
Some of our favorites are: *Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, CO *Green Mountain (William Frederick Hayden Park) in Lakewood, CO *St Mary's Glacier in Idaho Springs, CO *Red Rocks Park in Morrison, CO *Flatirons in Boulder, CO *Panorama Point Trail Head (Corwina Park) in Evergreen, CO *Golden Gate Canyon State Park in Golden, CO *Three Sisters Park Park in Evergreen, CO Remember sunscreen, hydration and snacks! We use the “All Trails” app to help pick a route.
1. Altitude - drink lots of water, ease into activities 2. Fire bans - this is a desert/dry area - if going camping, keep this in mind (research ahead of time) 3. We take nature seriously - stay on the trail; what you pack in, pack out; leave wildlife alone (don't litter 😊) 4. Pack for all weather options - bring layers! 5. Craft Beer is King (or Queen) - no Mich Golden Lights to be found in Denver (enjoy the freshest Coors Light of your life) 6. Rocky Mountain Oysters - not from the sea 7. Outdoors are life - hiking, biking, rafting - give it a try while visiting 8. And dogs are human (you know Milo... but dogs are everywhere in Denver and likely at every brewery you visit). 9. Sunscreen - elevation mixed with 300 days of sun 10. DIA (Airport) is a haul from the city - expect 45 min to get from the airport to Littleton; also, there is a tram you need to take in the airport to get from your gate (concourse) to the main terminal (but it's the end of the line, so you can't miss it).
If planning to just stay in the Metro, public transportation and Uber/Lyfts are the norm. If wanting to get out and explore (hiking, mountain exploration, extended travel), a car would be recommended. An Uber/Lyft code will be available the day of the wedding to assist with transportation needs.
