Dear loved ones, Over the past few months, the world has turned upside down. While we were initially advised to hold off on making changes in case the situation improved by September, it’s clear now that is not the trend. Our wedding venue requires that we limit our event size, and we also want to ensure that our wedding would not put the health and safety of all of our loved ones at risk. After great deliberation and with a heavy heart, we have made the difficult decision to pare down our wedding. As a result, we cannot accommodate as many of our friends and family as we planned. To those who we weren’t able to accomodate, again we are so sorry and we love you so much. We hope that you understand that this is a drastic measure we never expected to have to make and it’s heartbreaking for us. To those who will be coming, know that we are taking multiple measures to address potential infection risks, including adjusting the eating format, requiring masks, and decreasing the guest count from 125 to fewer than 50 people. We will send another update with more details. Please hold us in your hearts on September 5th as we take our vows to each other. This is not how we envisioned entering married life, but we are doing so with an even greater appreciation of life and love. Be well, be safe. All our love, Caitlin and Emily
Emily was nearing her college graduation and looking forward to moving to Boston. Caitlin was traveling between years of medical school and decided to visit Hanover, NH and our sorority, Epsilon Kappa Theta. We hit it off during a wine and cheese event and before we knew it, we were taking turns visiting Boston and Binghamton, NY doing the long distance thing!
In March 2017, Caitlin matched into Family Medicine at UPenn, and in May of that year, we moved to Philly. We fell in love with our new city - the restaurants, the new friends, and of course, the Eagles. We started to think about taking the next step, and since we believe that marriage is an equal partnership, we liked the idea of each proposing to the other. Emily surprised Caitlin when she was on a run down the Schuylkill River Trail, luring Caitlin to a gazebo that overlooked the Art Museum and Boathouse Row. Caitlin took Emily to Longwood Gardens, a beautiful estate-turned-botanical garden, and planned a celebratory evening with close friends.
This year, Emily will pursue an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago, and Caitlin will finish her third year of residency in Family Medicine and apply to Sports Medicine fellowships near Emily. We can't wait to celebrate our wedding with you all in September!
