FAQs

The Wedding Website of Cailín Frankland and Vishie Betapudi
We understand that our wedding plans are a little unconventional, so we have provided a list of FAQs here to help answer any unresolved questions. If you can't find the answers you need here or elsewhere on the website, please feel free to reach out to us directly.
Question

What if I can only attend one ceremony?

Answer

That's absolutely fine! While everyone is welcome at both ceremonies, we expect that the vast majority of our guests will only attend the one that is most convenient or culturally significant to them. We are having two weddings to ensure that all our extended family with limited capacity for international travel can be included in at least one ceremony; we understand that as a result, some friends will be unable to attend one or both events.

Question

Do I need to make my own travel arrangements?

Answer

For the Indian celebration: yes and no. If you are attending the Indian wedding from out of town, you will need to arrange your own travel to get to Allahabad. However, once you have arrived in Allahabad, we can help facilitate local travel to and from the airport and between hotels/venues. Please see the Indian Celebration page for more information. For the Irish celebration: yes. If you are attending the Irish wedding from out of town, you will need to arrange your own travel to get to the Lough Erne Resort, which will serve as both our wedding venue and accommodations for out of town guests. However, if you would like to coordinate with others coming into one of the airports, please let us know. Additionally, if you need any information on travel, please don’t hesitate to ask. Please see the Irish Celebration page for more information.

Question

Do I need to book my own accommodations?

Answer

For the Indian celebration: no. We have already secured a block of rooms at the venue for out of town guests, and will have a hotel room ready for you when you arrive in Allahabad at no cost to you. Please see the Indian Celebration page for more information. For the Irish celebration: yes. We have booked a small block of rooms at the Lough Erne golf resort hotel, and you can be allocated a room from the block by calling the hotel. There are also other accommodations close by. Please see the Irish Celebration page for more information. Please note that if you plan on staying longer in either India or Ireland for tourism purposes, you will need to make those arrangements yourself (though we are happy to give recommendations!)

Question

I have never been to an Indian wedding before. What should I wear?

Answer

If you plan on attending all three Indian events, you will need three outfits. Here is some guidance for each ceremony: Haldi ceremony: All guests are invited to wear yellow to match the colour of Haldi (turmeric). This is the most casual of the Indian ceremonies, so guests are welcome to wear comfortable Indian or Western clothes. Sangeet: This event is semi-formal, and can be attended in Indian or Western attire. For women and girls, we recommend a saree, salwar kameez, lehenga, or full-length cocktail dress. For men and boys, we recommend a kurta pajama or Western suit and tie. Hindu wedding ceremony: This event is a formal religious ceremony. Following Indian tradition, the bride will be wearing red - while no colours are off limits to guests, we don't recommend red (bridal), white (mourning), or black (inauspicious). For women and girls, we recommend a saree, salwar kameez, or lehenga. For men and boys, we recommend a kurta pajama. Western formal wear is also acceptable. If you are interested in wearing traditional Indian attire to any of these ceremonies but don't know where to start, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We want everyone to look and feel their best!

Question

I have never been to a Western wedding before. What should I wear?

Answer

You will only need one outfit for the date of the Irish wedding, as all the events take place on the same day and in quick succession. The dress code is black-tie optional: we recommend a formal attiar. Western suit and tie for men and boys, and tea length cocktail dresses for women and girls. You are also welcome to wear formal Indian attire and Irish or Scottish kilts are also welcome. One important rule for Western weddings is that guests should not wear white, as that colour is reserved for the bride. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us directly!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Absolutely! Just let us know who’s coming in your party and the age of any children so we can accommodate them well.

Question

I would love to come to your wedding but I'm not sure how I can afford it. What should I do?

Answer

Please reach out to us directly! We understand that for many of our guests, attending our wedding will involve expensive international flights and other travel-related costs. If you think that cost will be a major barrier to celebrating with us, please let us know and we will work with you to try to figure out a solution.

Question

This is my first visit to India. What is the easiest way to get to the Indian venue?

Answer

The easiest way to get to the beautiful city of Prayagraj (also known as Allahabad) is to fly into Delhi international airport. From there, there is a direct flight daily to Prayagraj airport. Let us know when you’re arriving in Prayagraj and we will take care of you.

Question

This is my first visit to Ireland. What is the best way to get to Enniskillen?

Answer

The island town of Enniskillen is a 1.5-hour drive from Belfast city or Belfast international airport, and a two-hour drive from Dublin airport. If you want to sightsee beyond Enniskillen in Ireland, we recommend that you rent a car (if you’re OK driving on the left side of the road). There is also a direct coach from Dublin airport to Enniskillen, which takes around three hours. In any case, if you are not renting a car, please let us know when you are arriving, and we can help with transportation from any of the airports.

Question

I understand the Irish venue is a golf resort, is there an opportunity to play golf?

Answer

Absolutely! You can make your own arrangements to play at either of the courses in Lough Erne. However, if you would like to play with some of the wedding group on Friday, Sunday, or Monday please contact us to be added to the group on one or more days.

Question

I have no interest in playing golf. Is there something to do in Enniskillen while my companion plays?

Answer

Absolutely. You will be spoiled for choice. There are some ideas on the Irish ceremony website, but there is an excellent Thai spa and pool at the hotel. Walking in the spectacular resort grounds, including the golf course is a good idea. It is a short taxi ride to the small town of Enniskillen where there are local shops, cafés, pubs, and other attractions, including a castle. Beaches, caves, historical houses a historic round tower are also in the area. Please reach out if you are the only member of your party who is not playing golf and we will connect you to some others with similar interests.
