10:00 am
All guests are invited to wear yellow to match the colour of Haldi (turmeric). This is the most casual of the Indian ceremonies, so guests are welcome to wear comfortable Indian or Western clothes.
The Haldi ceremony is an important Indian pre-wedding ritual, which involves rubbing a paste of turmeric (Haldi), oil, and water on the bride and groom's bodies. The turmeric exfoliates the skin and provides blessings to the couple, and the ceremony protects the bride and groom from evil spirits. The bright yellow colour of turmeric is associated with prosperity, so the wedding party and guests typically wear bright yellow to bless the marriage.
5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
This event is semi-formal, and can be attended in Indian or Western attire. For women and girls, we recommend a saree, salwar kameez, lehenga, or full-length cocktail dress. For men and boys, we recommend a kurta pajama or Western suit and tie.
The Sangeet is an Indian wedding tradition that celebrates the union of two families, much like a Western wedding reception. Translating to "sung together" in Sanskrit, the Sangeet will feature dancing, singing, and performances from those close to the bride and groom. This event will also include dinner, and there will be an open bar offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
11:00 am
This event is a formal religious ceremony. Following Indian tradition, the bride will be wearing red - while no colours are off limits to guests, we don't recommend red (bridal), white (mourning), or black (inauspicious). For women and girls, we recommend a saree, salwar kameez, or lehenga. For men and boys, we recommend a kurta pajama. Western formal wear is also acceptable.
Our Hindu wedding ceremony will consist of the following components: - Baraat - Ganesh Puja - Kanya Agaman and Jaimala - Kanyadaan and Hast Milap - Thalambraalu - Mangalphera - Saptapadi - Mangalsutra Bandhan - Pradhanam - Aashirwad For more details about these components, please check our home page. Following the wedding ceremony, we invite you to join us for lunch.
5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
The dress code for this event is "golf club casual". For women and girls, we recommend sundresses or skirts, or slacks with a nice shirt. For men and boys, we recommend trousers and collared shirts. Please avoid wearing white, as this colour is reserved for the bride.
Rehearsal dinners are not traditional in Ireland. This is an optional, informal event for guests to pop in and have a quick drink and / or a bite to eat. We welcome all of our guests, especially those who have traveled a long way. Please let us know if you plan to attend. Note that it is not intended that guests stay for the entire event duration. We would appreciate it if you would plan to come early (5:30 onwards) or late (7:30 onwards) if that works with your schedule so that the venue does not get too crowded.
2:00 pm
This will be a traditional Irish wedding. For attire, we recommend a suit and tie for men and boys and a tea-length formal dress (fascinators welcome!) for women and girls. Formal Indian attire and Scottish or Irish kilts are also welcome. Please do not wear white, as that colour is reserved for the bride.
Our Western wedding ceremony will be short and secular, consisting of a brief welcome speech, some music, and an exchange of vows.
3:00 pm
Immediately following the wedding ceremony, we will host a cocktail hour with live music. This will be a great opportunity to take photos and mingle with other guests before the wedding reception.
5:00 pm
The wedding reception will consist of a formal dinner, complete with speeches and toasts from the wedding party.
7:00 pm
Following the wedding reception, we will open up the dance floor for Cailín and Vishie's "first dance", followed by the traditional "Father-Daughter" dance (Mark's request!). Then we will introduce our live band and dance into the night!
9:00 am - 11:00 am
This is a relaxed breakfast so dress code will be casual. Please wear whatever makes you most comfortable - shorts, jeans, and t-shirts are welcome!
This is an optional, informal breakfast for hotel guests and any other wedding guests who would like to join. You can come any time from 9 am onwards. The room closes at 11 am. No obligation to join but please let us know if you plan to attend so we can save you a seat!
