Please find below some commonly asked questions for everything pertaining to our special day!
Question

How do I get to the wedding?

Answer

The easiest way is to fly into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS), a major international hub with direct flights from many cities worldwide. (This is for our guests coming from other countries.) From there, trains, taxis, and rideshares (including Uber) can take you to the venue and surrounding towns.

Should I rent a car or rely on public transportation?

Answer

Public transportation in the Netherlands is excellent. Trains and buses are reliable and easy to use. Renting a car is optional, especially if you plan to explore other areas of the country beyond the wedding weekend.

Is there a shuttle service on the wedding day?

Answer

Yes! a shuttle bus will be driving from the hotel to the venue. Please RSVP to the venue for your preferred time slot.

How early should I arrive?

Answer

We recommend arriving at least a day or two before the wedding to settle, getting acclimated to the area and explore around. The day of the wedding we recommend getting to the venue at 13.00

Do I need a passport or visa?

Answer

Please ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates. Depending on your nationality, a Schengen visa may be required.

Where should I stay?

Answer

We recommend our selected hotel for convenience and easy access to the wedding venue or nearby properties in the city of Hoorn to make it more convenient. Guests are welcome to explore other areas of the Netherlands if they’d like to extend their trip before or after the wedding.

How do I book a room for the wedding?

Answer

Please email sales@hoorn.valk.com and mention the Rachael and Thomas wedding block. Rooms are available at a discounted rate for our guests, and we recommend booking early to secure your stay. If you’re arriving a few days early or staying after the wedding, the hotel may be able to offer a discounted rate for extended stays.

What time does the ceremony start?

Answer

Our Wedding Ceremony starts at 2pm. A more detailed timeline of our day will be posted shortly as we get closer to the date. Guests can arrive an hour before already and grab a drink.

Where is the ceremony and reception?

Answer

All events will be held at Robacher's Watermill, Hauwert 112, 1691 EK Hauwert. We’ve rented the entire property for the day, so our wedding ceremony, toast, dinner, and celebration will all take place in this beautiful location.

Can I bring a guest or children?

Answer

All plus ones and children are included with your invitation. If you feel anything is missing or have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Rachael or Thomas.

What is the dress code?

Answer

Get your suits and dresses ready for a formal colorful wedding! All colors are welcome except white (obvious hehe) and black, short dresses are okay. Please avoid shorts and jeans. We appreciate you all looking your snazzy, most dressed up selves. Shoes: make sure to have a wide base as the flooring is made of cobblestones, mulch, and more

Will there be food and drinks?

Answer

Yes! The reception will include a full meal, beverages, and even some late night bites later on during the party! Please let us know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions.

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

We don’t have a traditional registry, but we do have a honeymoon fund. Since traveling is our greatest passion, we would be so grateful for any contribution to help make our dream honeymoon a reality.

Are gifts expected?

Answer

Our gift is you making the journey to celebrate one of the most special days of our lives. No gift is expected but any contribution to our honeymoon fund is greatly appreciated.

What’s the weather like?

Answer

The Netherlands in late June is generally mild and sunny, but it’s a good idea to bring a light jacket or umbrella just in case. Our venue can accomodate to the weather whether it is rain or shine.

Are there things to do nearby before or after the wedding?

Answer

Absolutely! The nearest quaint charming Dutch town to our wedding venue is Hoorn. We have attached some links to our other favorite cities worth visiting while you are here that are close by to the area. These cities are also not far from the wedding venue and you can most certainly stay at these places of you'd like. This section will also be updated later on with our other recommendations.
