I first saw Kimberly while roaming the halls of Mount Royal University, the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. A bubbly blonde beauty standing there in a sundress, promoting some club. As the days went by and the semester began to come to an end I hadn’t been able to shake the thought of the “Mystery Blonde Girl” that I saw that day. I began telling my friends and even my mom about Mystery Blonde Girl , and how beautiful and amazing she was, even though I hadn’t even met her. I decided if I ever saw her again I would walk up, introduce myself and give her my number. During one of the last days of the semester I saw her sitting at a table with a couple friends. I stopped, took out one of my notebooks and began to write a note. I explained how I had seen her around school a month or two prior and that I would love to grab a coffee sometime and get to know her better. By the time I had written the note, I looked up and she was gone. I went down one hallway to see if I could catch up to her, she was nowhere to be seen. I went back down the other hallway, still no Mystery Blonde Girl. I was back at school in the fall for my fourth and final year and had made sure that everyday I went to school with a note in my pocket that had my name and number on it so that if I ever saw Mystery Blonde Girl again I wouldn’t have to waste time writing a note! The entire semester went by without seeing Mystery Blonde Girl, until on the very last day of classes, there she was. I was in the food court and there she was, standing at the ATM withdrawing cash. I wanted to walk up and say hello, but my brain said “no you idiot, she’s going to think your stealing her pin or something!” So I waited… She had withdrawn her cash and was walking, very briskly I might add, out of the food court. I began running after the girl I knew I was going to marry. As I got closer I realized I had to get her attention somehow, I panicked and poked her in the armpit, a great start I must say!
Just a girl, skipping a bit of class, to go get cash to attend the end of semester party with my crazy friends. Because at that time in my life (before the real granny stage), we would never miss a party. I think we can all agree, when you’re minding your own business in a public space, you typically don’t anticipate being grabbed in the armpit by a total stranger. But because it was end of semester and exams were just about to begin, I found myself even more on edge when I suddenly felt my personal space being invaded. Whipping around to find an incredibly handsome, well dressed man in a suit, I was just not in the mood to be asked to “expand my horizons and follow into the fruitful life of religion XYZ or fill out your dang survey”….because that was the only reason I believed this person would be speaking to me. Well as most know, that wasn’t exactly why that good looking guy grabbed me that December day. I still thought it was a joke when he offered me his name, number and a smile, but after a little bit of Facebook stalking…I figured he was someone I wanted to get to know. I still vividly remember calling one of my best friends Jackie and saying I had met the guy I was going to marry, and upon her even more intense social media stalking, we also determined since he was a country singer, I would also be making the move to Nashville in my near future as a southern belle (luckily only the part that mattered came true). As we all know, Bryton is legitimately perfect in every way. As mentioned numerous times, he is ridiculously handsome, well dressed, polite and most importantly, is so incredibly kind that I can’t help but be a better person because he is in my world. Ever since meeting him, my life has been changed for the better. I think we both knew, very early on, that we had found our person. I can’t wait for the day I get to marry Bryton and continue to show him the unconditional love he has shown me ever since that fateful, yet accidental armpit tickle.
Bryton and Kimberly had always talked about travelling together. In their first few months of dating, they took their first vacation together. As the years went on, they went on many road trips in the summer, flights across North America and finally they planned their dream trip to Europe for the fall of 2018. They planned and planned and planned, and almost every minute had a destination and sight to see. Calgary, London, Paris, Munich, Krakow, Berlin, Paris, Lille and London again....all in less than 3 weeks. While Kimberly was hopelessly busy with a work event the months before their November vacation, Bryton was planning one of the biggest moments of their lives. He even asked her mom and dad on a trip home to Medicine Hat at Thanksgiving! After an amazing few days in London, one cancelled train to Paris and then finally making it to the City of Lights, Bryton told Kimberly that the following day they'd be going to the Louvre and he had a small surprise. Please note, Bryton surprises Kimberly often, so this was not out of the ordinary. In the morning, Bryton had an amazing Parisian photographer waiting in the Tulleries Gardens for them...shout out to Alex who got the most amazing shots with absolutely no one in the background! After taking a few nice photos, Bryton got down on one knee and said, "there may not be a helicopter or some grand gesture, but we are in Paris and we have this beautiful castle behind us, will you marry me?"..(not grand at all right...) Kimberly freaked (as you can see in the photo evidence), cried and failed to say yes. After the shock and a morning coffee, she did confirm that she would marry him and was just too excited to say YES beforehand. The two spent the rest of their once in a lifetime trip relishing in the engagement bliss and got to share with everyone when they returned back to Canada.... "BEST DAY EVER" - Kimberly McNulty
