A 21st Century Fairy Tale

Taking a Chance at Online Love

To say Bryn was skeptical of the possibility of finding love online is an understatement! But between her tea-totaling ways and her 80 hour work weeks during residency, the chance of meeting someone "the good old fashioned way" seemed low. Sean, being an eternal optimist but with high standards, felt confident the right woman might be waiting for him behind an online dating profile. The fateful app of choice was Bumble, which required Bryn to reach out first. After navigating conflicting schedules, the date was set; their first meeting would take place at a cozy Denver breakfast spot called Onefold. Bryn raced home from her last-ever night shift to change out of hospital scrubs and throw some makeup on, while Sean was secretly hoping she'd show up in doctor attire! It was a great first date, which ended with a big hug and even bigger smiles. The rest is history!

We Do Things Out of Order

Is 6 months too soon to buy a house together?

Some people do crossword puzzles for fun -- Bryn scrolls through property listings, taking note of the possible dream houses for sale in her favorite Denver neighborhoods. Somehow, this pipe-dream habit turned into Bryn and Sean actually meeting with a realtor to shop for houses after only 6 months of dating! When they made plans to go look at 3349 Eliot Street, Bryn lied to herself, saying, "this is just for fun!" However, when they walked in the front door they both knew they'd entered their dream, once-in-a-lifetime house. So, despite fear of judgement, failure, and financial ruin, Bryn and Sean signed on the dotted line, and purchased their beloved home where their love and relationship would continue to grow.

A Ring, A Ranch, an Aspen Branch

Or, how Bryn accidentally planned the proposal

Little did Bryn know, Sean had been planning to propose since around June 2017. He started plotting while they were on vacation with their beloved friends Megan and Josué in the Galapagos, where he asked Megan to surreptitiously check Bryn's ring size. Back in the States, he conspired with Bryn's friend Kelly to design the perfect ring. Somehow, Kelly seemed to know exactly what style of ring would suit Bryn just right! ;-) And then, the waiting began. Poor Sean, and all the people who were in on the secret, waited months for the gorgeous custom ring to be hand crafted. Sean spent the month of September in Wyoming, having a transformative experience at the famous Trial Lawyers College. Fortuitously, the ring finally arrived the very day after he returned home! Bryn, so excited to celebrate Sean's homecoming, had planned a romantic dinner out at a favorite restaurant for that evening, and suggested they head to gorgeous Kenosha Pass at sunrise the next morning to hike and see the fall aspen leaves. Sean thought that sounded like the perfect romantic scenario to finally pop the question. About 10 minutes into the hike, Sean couldn't stand the suspense any longer, and on the pretense that he "had to use the restroom," ventured off the trail and up into an aspen grove with Jane (their dog) by his side. Bryn waited by the trail, reveling in the glory of Colorado's beauty, when suddenly she heard Sean call for her from up the hill. Going to investigate, she came upon Sean and Jane in a clearing. Sean said, "Jane has something to ask you, and so do I." Bryn bent to read the handcrafted sign hanging from Jane's collar, which said, "Will you be my mom?" And then, Sean got down on his knees and asked Bryn to be his wife. They were both so thrilled as they continued the hike that they yelled "we're getting married!" from the mountain top!
