Laura Lu was born and raised in Maryland. After her gymnastics career, she began her path to medicine first at MIT, then moved West to Stanford, and is now an Orthopedic Surgery resident at Harvard. While in college, she also participated in the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps and is now a Lieutenant in the US Navy Reserves. When she is not in the hospital, she enjoys spending time in the sun, eating Eric's home-cooked meals, spinning at SoulCycle, and traveling. Eric Brown hails from Port Perry, Ontario, Canada. Since childhood, he has always been interested in science and has made it his career, first going to the University of Guelph, then moving West to Vancouver for his PhD, and finally to Boston as a Harvard Medical School Instructor at the Broad Institute doing microbiology and immunology research. Outside of the lab, he enjoys cooking delicious meals, soaking up the outdoors, skiing and playing hockey keeping true to his Canadian roots. It seems like fate that these two science nerds would find love!
In the depths of the pandemic, Laura and Eric swept right on each other and met for a summer walk along the Charles River in Boston. Even with masks on, there was a spark...until Laura's alarm went off 45 minutes later, and she had to leave due to car trouble. Thinking that was it, Eric was happy to receive a text from Laura moments after she speed-walked away. From there, they went on longer dates and couldn't help but want to see each other more.
After returning from a wonderful leaf-peeping trip in Maine, Eric and Laura decided to have a quiet movie night on a rainy fall day. Eric professed his love, and Laura was glad she didn't have to keep her feelings a secret anymore.
A year came and went with more adventure, travel, laughs, and love. In December of 2021, Eric whisked Laura away to a celebratory trip to their spot in Kennebunkport, Maine. They walked to the beach where they took their first picture, and Eric popped the question. Eric and Laura promised each other a lifetime of love as the winter's first snow fell.
We cannot wait to celebrate with you!
