Brooke and Alex were both out in downtown Fort Collins celebrating Tour de Fat. Brooke noticed her neighbor across the bar who was with a handsome friend (aka Alex). The couple bonded that first night over giant jenga and pool.

For the first two years, Brooke and Alex lived in different towns and would commute to see each other on the weekends. Finally, Brooke came to her senses and moved to Denver. The couple bought a house in Westminster in December 2018 and have been living happily together since.

On a ski trip in Crested Butte the couple went cross-country skiing on their favorite trail, Pooches Paradise. At the end of the trail is a bridge and Alex told Brooke to go ski across the bridge. She quickly sped off to the other end of the bridge with no clue as to what was coming. When she turned around, Alex was coming onto the bridge with cross-country skis still on but no poles. Brooke said repeatedly “Where are your poles? Why don’t you have your poles?” Then Alex dropped to one knee in the middle of the bridge and asked Brooke to marry him… she said yes!
