We were visiting my family in St. Augustine Florida this past October. Phillip had planned with my mother to have my engagement ring shipped to Florida while we were visiting. The two planned a sunset dolphin cruise in front of the Castillo de San Marcos Fort on the water. When we showed up to board the boat I was blissfully unaware the whole boat knew about the pending proposal. We were the last two to arrive but we were the first couple seated in the front of the boat. I remember thinking these were the best seats and I was surprised no one had taken them by the time we got there! We drank wine and watched the dolphins pop up over the bay. As the sun was setting, we floated up in front of the fort when the captain suggested a picture. I stood up and handed over my camera. Phillip stayed seated. I nudged him as the captain came closer to take our picture and he stayed planted in his seat mumbling something I couldn’t make out. Annoyed that he was wasting this lovely man’s time and feeling the eyes of the boat on us as we delayed their potential photo opts, he finally got down on one knee and I realized this was it. The moment I got to commit to the man of my dreams, albeit a nervous man. As soon as the moment was over, the boat was eager to tell me "everyone was in on it” and the photo opt had been staged just for us. A beautiful start to our future.
