The only bar in Cabot and a place where you can sit on bird seed, buy a hammer, and also get hammered. This is a requirement-- you MUST stop in here. (+ there is the Cabot General Store next door for limited groceries/snacks)
Owned by one of Clayton's best friends + maple syrup, apples and donuts-- need we say more?
Another MUST- you cannot visit Vermont and not get a maple creamee!! Creamees are available all over, but this is one shop that is super close to our venue and where Clayton and Brittany have spent lots of time eating creamees + pup cups!
Beer Mecca. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays, plan accordingly if want to visit.
Lots of family friendly hikes and activities + Boulder Beach (this is Clayton's favorite VT beach-- check out that view in the top photo on their website!)
Unfortunately the creamery itself no longer does tours but still--- CHEESE!! There is also a closer Cabot Creamery store called Yellow Barn in Hardwick and still-- CHEESE!!
Close to Comfort Inn and Suites and great place to see incredible art.
Great museum & planetarium shows for adults and kids alike + they have a moose! (still the only moose Brittany has ever seen in real life)
You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! You can do a factory tour (recommend booking this in advance if interested) or just do a drive-by for ice cream and to check out the ice cream flavor graveyard. This is actually a great stop that is in between Burlington Airport and Comfort Inn and Suites/St. Johnsbury/Cabot.
Good beer, great vibes, often live music, and you can throw stuff on the ceiling.
Swimming!
Swimming! This beach is also dog-friendly if you are missing your furry ones at home and want to pet strangers' dogs.
We had to include our craziest Gremlin's namesake, Lake Willoughby, on this list. This lake was carved out of glaciers, has gorgeous skyline views in between the fjord-like peaks, and is the deepest lake (328 ft!) in VT. You can swim, paddle, hike, and boat-- recommend to do this on a HOT day, water is chillyyy for non-New Englanders--> looking at our FL folks :)
Stowe is about an hour from Cabot and has lots of additional VT sights. Options include: The Von Trapp Family Lodge and Brewery (A little of Austria, a lot of Vermont), Alchemist (Heady Topper), Toll Road drive up Mansfield (check out the Green Mountain state at its' highest point 4,393 ft!), numerous easy waterfall hikes (Bingham Falls, Moss Glen Falls, & Sterling Falls Gorge), & Doc Ponds (AMAZING food).
Burlington has the closest airport to Cabot and is a bit less than 1.5 hours away. Options to do here include: walking Church Street Marketplace (pedestrian only street downtown), lots of craft beer options (FOAM brewing, Burlington Beer Company, Zero Gravity, Citizen Cider), multiple easy to moderate hikes to view the Adirondacks & Lake Champlain (Red Rocks Park loop), Mount Philo State Park, Burlington Bike Path & Burlington Greenway (lots of bike rental shops), and visit the Burlington waterfront to see Lake Champlain and relax.
Montpelier is Vermont's capital and is a little more than half hour away. Sights include the Vermont History Museum, Lost Nation (community) Theater, Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks (you can tour a sugarhouse, and although the maple syrup isn't quite as good as Burtt's, it's still VT syrup), Montpelier Vineyards (wine and cider), Caledonia Spirits (Barr Hill and been voted the best cocktail bar in the country), and cannot miss Red Hen Baking (the BEST creamee in the state; Brittany recommends trying both maple AND their flavor of the day- lemon is her favorite).
