Knight's Ferry is a cute little historic town about 40 minutes east of Modesto. Featuring a park with a historic covered bridge and cute shops and restaurants.
Rafting trips start for the season again in May 2022. BYOB and pack some food, and water guns if you have them, and go on a fun rafting adventure through this tour company. They'll drop you in the river and pick you up at the end.

A bucket list destination that you might want to take this opportunity to see, Yosemite is just a two hour drive from Modesto. If coming from Modesto or the Bay Area, we recommend staying in the park or in or near Groveland, CA. Note that you will need to make a reservation to visit Yosemite! Reservations are limited to reduce congestion in the park and are likely to get booked fast. See the website for more details.
...is San Francisco. Check out the sea lions at Pier 39. Take a boat ride out under the Golden Gate bridge from Fisherman's Wharf. Chinatown is a great shopping and eating destination. Golden Gate Park is beautiful and also home to the California Academy of Sciences. A hop-on, hop-off bus tour is a great way to see the highlights. Bring a jacket.
Drive along the Monterey coastline for some spectacular views. Stops include the Lone Cyprus and the entrance to Pebble Beach golf course. Entrance fee is $11.25 per car and includes a guide brochure.
