On October 12th, 2019, I drove up from Portland to Seattle for my Co-Maid of Honor, Sarah's, annual Halloween party. I had spent weeks thrifting and perfecting my outfit to replicate the main character from the Netflix show, Russian Doll, which, as it turns out, not many people had seen. Meanwhile, Jack was debating whether to attend the party due to the trek out to West Seattle (maybe 20 minutes). Eventually, he mustered up the energy and even put on a wicker hat to complete his "tourist" costume. As he walked in, I recognized him from photos and possibly having seen him around in person over the years. When he approached the group I was with, I decided to break the ice by saying, "we've met before, good to see you," even though I don't think that was true. It was the best white lie I've ever told, leading us to continue to find each other and hit it off throughout the party. We talked every day for the next month until I was able to come back up to Seattle for our first date, and the rest, as they say, is history!
Bridget and I planned a winter weekend trip with our good friends, Ashley and Tim, over to the McCaskill house in Black Butte. After checking the carry-on bag countless times during the flight from Seattle to make sure the ring was still there, playing the regular BB hits, skiing Hoodoo, it was showtime. Bridget and I set out on a walk together. I had a very specific and special point on the golf course picked out to pop the question. However, after about 5 minutes of awkwardly slipping around in the snow and making completely random small talk, I decided that was as far as we were going to make it and started to get on one knee. Before I was halfway down, Bridget flung off her glove, put the ring on herself and remembered to finally say yes about 15 minutes later. We returned back to the house for a night of celebrating with family and friends! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Sisters!
