Question

Why are you getting married in the Gorge?

Answer

Great question! When making our guest list, we realized that about 2/3 of you lived outside the New York metropolitan area. Since many of you would need to travel to join the celebration, we thought we'd choose somewhere fun, majestic, and hopefully still accessible. The Gorge is a special place for us. It's where we came on our first vacation together in 2016, and it made an impression on us as a serene and beautiful corner of the country.

Question

Can we bring our kids?

Answer

We're not monsters, we won't turn away your progeny! It should also be noted, though, that we will not really have any activities or accommodations planned for them. We would love for our wedding to be a weekend off for you, but if you do plan on bringing the kiddos along, please just let us know so that we can plan accordingly. Thanks!

Question

When Should I/We Book a Room?

Answer

As soon as possible! Hood River is a very popular summer destination, and many hotels book up quickly. We have provided several lodging suggestions on the "Travel" page of this website.

Question

My invitation doesn't indicate that I can bring a +1. Can I bring a +1 or what?!

Answer

Please check with us! As of right now, in an effort to keep our wedding feeling intimate, our guest list is pretty locked. We assure you this is nothing personal against you or your significant other! As the RSVPs start rolling in and we have a better sense of the headcount, we may be able to free up a place for them. If you have a special someone who was not specifically invited but whom you'd really like to bring along, please check with us and we'll see what we can do. We do ask, respectfully, that you not bring along any of our mortal enemies.

Question

Is it necessary to rent a car for the weekend?

Answer

Necessary? No. Recommended? Probably. Important to note: THERE IS NO LYFT OR UBER IN HOOD RIVER! There is a bus that runs from Portland to Hood River for $10 (find out more on the Travel page!), so it is possible to get into town without a car, though not necessarily convenient. Once you're there, Hood River has one cab company and a limited public transportation system, so you won't have to walk everywhere. If you are looking to coordinate a car rental with other guests, please reach out to Brian or Michela and we can help!

Question

Where Should I Stay?

Answer

Short Answer: Check out the "Travel Page" on this website! Long Answer: While there are plenty of lodging options in neighboring towns like The Dalles, White Salmon, and Lyle, the roads are pretty dark and winding. If you plan to imbibe over the weekend, we definitely recommend booking early to ensure that you can stay locally in Hood River and take advantage of our wedding shuttle!

Question

I wanna try to coordinate travel with friends-- who all is coming to this hootenanny??

Answer

First off, thank you for your folksy phrasing here. Please don't hesitate to reach out for guest list information! We love the idea of y'all getting a big cozy Air BnB together, but understand (and appreciate) you not wanting to get into a sticky "So you going to Brian and Michela's wedding?" "Lol what wedding??" type of text exchange. We're happy to share the guest list with you!
