Is the reception at a different location than the ceremony?

Answer

For family members and a small portion of out-of town guests, there will be a brunch at the English Inn, 1/2 hour southwest of Lansing, at 677 S Michigan Road | Eaton Rapids, Michigan 48827. For most of our guests, we will be having an open house later in the afternoon at Granger Meadows Park, 1745 Granger Meadows Lane, Lansing, MI 48906 from 4pm until 8pm.

12:30pm is the brunch for Family and Out of Town guests. 4:00pm is the open house for all our friends.

I'm coming from out of town. Do I need to make my own hotel arrangements?

Answer

We booked a block of rooms at The Quality Inn - University, 3121 Grand River Avenue, Lansing, MI 48912 from Friday, 5/11/18 through Sunday, 5/13/18. Please make your reservations before 4/11/18 to guarrantee availability, and lock in your discounted rate by mentioning the Galer/Neuens Wedding at the time of booking.

Will there be an open bar at the reception?

Answer

There will NOT be an open bar at either the small family reception or the open house. Nor will there be alcohol of any kind at either reception. We regret the lack of libations and the traditional symbol of joy, but it could not be done any other way. We appreciate your understanding.

I'm not catholic. Can I still attend the ceremony?

Answer

Of course you can! Thank you for celebrating our joy with us! We welcome our fellow Christians to this celebration of the Eucharist as our brothers and sisters. We pray that our common baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit in this Eucharist will draw us closer to one another and dispel our sad divisions. We pray that these will finally disappear, as in Christ's prayer for us "that they may all be one" (Jn 17:21). Because Catholics believe that the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life, and worship, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully united are asked not to recieve Holy Communion; Father make us One! All who are not receiving Holy Communion are encouraged to express in their hearts a prayerful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with one another. We also welcome to this celebration those who do not share our faith in Jesus Christ. and ask them to offer their prayers for the peace and the unity of the human family.

I have stringent dietary restrictions. Can I still eat at your reception?

Answer

We most certainly hope so, and will do our best to accommodate your dietary needs. Please text Elizabeth with your restrictions before 4/11/18, and make sure that you RSVP before that deadline, or we will not be able to guarantee that we can meet your needs.
