It all begins with barley, hops, and water and when Brian and Aryn met in 2009. As the athletes they are, Brian met Aryn during offseason training and just like that, a spark formed and a high school romance germinated like the malted barley grain. Although this relationship did not last, as life would drift them to new places and experiences, silently their love would continue to mature. Over the next several years, their lives crossed paths and they were able to see glimpses of how they each have grown. Much fun was had seeing each other at Badger football games, friend birthday parties, and Summerfest. Was the brew kettle starting to boil? Only time would tell… In 2016, Aryn was looking for her next professional move and West Virginia was a potential option. Little did she know, Brian was there. They HOPped on a quick call, that wasn’t so quick, and it was in that moment, when they both realized, wait, maybe something real is here. Aryn stayed in Wisconsin and Brian continued to move about, but the physical distance didn’t matter. Phone calls, texts, and visits to see each other, their love continued to brew. Their love was ready to be moved into the barrel in 2020 when Brian moved back to Wisconsin. For a Job? Yes, but truly for her, the love of his life. Their relationship was finally solidified when Aryn asked Brian to be her boyfriend on a windy Spring hike. With a can of beer and a cheers, he said yes! With more time together, Aryn and Brian where truly able to experience all aspects of their relationship, through cooking, hiking, tasting new beer, and bantering every day. They experienced new sights and various adventures, until the one that mattered the most… In 2023 Brian and Aryn took off on their first European trip together to drink all the beer and eat all the food they could in Prague, Munich, and Salzburg. It was there, in the Bavarian Alps, atop Mt. Jenner, in the misty, foggy sky, that Brian dropped to one knee, nervous as hell, and asked Aryn to be his forever hiking buddy and marry him. She, of course, surprised as hell, said YES! Now, here we are, ready to say “I do” and embark on this lifelong journey together. We have learned a lot about love, timing, and the importance of listening to one another. And of course, the art of brewing beer too. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter of life with all of you and pop the top of this barrel aged beer!
