There are TWO main methods of getting to Chatham when flying in from Logan Airport. THE EASIEST OPTION, is to rent a car from Logan Airport and enjoy a scenic 90 minute drive to the city of Chatham. THE OTHER OPTION, is to board the Plymouth-Brockton bus at Logan Airport, and to take a comfortable ride to the city of Hyannis. From there, it's a 30 minute drive to the city of Chatham, so you could could either use a ride share service, or arrange a fellow guest to pick you up.
Even though rates are much lower than they were two years ago, it is unfortunate that we are still living in the time of COVID. For the safety of everyone, including great grandparents over 90 years old and unvaccinated infants, we will require each guest to text or email us their up to date vaccination card. The wedding will take place outside, but we ask that when you go inside the house to use the restroom, please wear a mask for the sake of the fragile immune system for those who live there.
In lieu of a registry, we hope that you will help contribute to young Charlotte's college fund. Please refer to the "registry" section of this website for more information, or contact either Brian or Alex directly for a link to Charlotte's 529 College Savings Plan.
The wedding is meant to be a fun and comfortable outdoor event. The bride and groom will have a tuxedo and dress for photos, but feel free to dress in something comfortable. The only real “requirement” is that heels are not recommended, because much of the space is on open grass. A coat or warm layer is recommended for when the sun goes down in the evening.
In our experience, an AirBNB is generally not only more comfortable, but also more affordable than local hotel options. Since the wedding is after Labor Day, there should be plenty of options for homes of all sizes, at an affordable rate. Hotels do exist in the area, but tend to be a little farther away from Chatham.
Please let us know ahead of time. The main dinner will be a traditional clam bake, with choices of lobster, steak or chicken. We can do our best to accommodate if there is a specific restriction.
Chatham is a wonderful town to visit, and having a car (or arrangements with fellow guests to share a car) to get around is strongly recommended. As an alternative however, there are ride shares like Lyft and Uber active in the cape.
Alex's father maintains a cultivated bee hive on the property, but away from the area that the wedding will take place. The bees are not aggressive or more prevalent in the backyard than any other area on the cape, but if you have concerns, please contact us.
The tea ceremony is a traditional custom in Chinese culture, meant to signify a formal integration between two families. It is the main event of the wedding ceremony, and will serve as an exchanging of vows.
"Jade Mansion" is a pet name for the house of Alex’s parents. The name comes from the house that Alex's grandparents had back in China. There is a spacious backyard that will serve as the ceremony and reception area. Plentiful parking is available around the cul de sac by their house.
Although we had our RSVP list from 2020, we know that circumstances have changed for a lot of people in the past two years, and need to try to get an accurate headcount for who can attend this year's event. The specific naming for the 2020 list was based on what the names were on the paper invites. If there's an alternate or more formal way to spell your name (such as your Chinese or Vietnamese name), it is likely set to that name instead of the more casual one. Alternately, you can contact Brian or Alex with your RSVP and meal preference (lobster, steak, chicken or other), and we will make note of it.
