We have since discovered a series of hidden gems in West Sonoma County, living here amidst the pandemic. For additional "art walks," amazing bike rides of varying lengths, ocean swim spots, or local food recommendations, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Everything at this bakery is absolutely delicious- a must stop before any hike along the coast or bike ride in the area for their brick oven baked sourdough breads and scones. There is a beautiful organic garden in the back for wandering or eating outside. They are open Friday through Monday, and only take cash/check.
We recently went off for a mind-clearing long run in this amazing state park, just 20 min from downtown Sebastopol. HIGHLY recommend the gorgeous and varied trail system- featuring redwood forest, open meadows, and rolling hillside for a hike/run of any distance. We ran for 11 miles and could have gone much further. Also a popular mountain biking spot. $7 parking fee, well worth it.
Great ocean views, nearby hikes, and seafood spots- just 10 minutes west of Sebastopol
Recommended hike: park at Shell Beach trailhead parking lot (on the ocean side of the road), hike the Pomo Canyon to Red Hill trail loop. Beautiful views with a mix of forest and open hillsides. About 5-6 miles.
Bike rentals are available for full or half day at Sebastopol Bike Center- great place to start a ride. Grab snacks and hydration essentials at the Community Market across the street. The West County bike trail is a great bike path with large stretches of trail off the road (at times you'll be biking with woods and farmland on either side). Recommended stops include: Horse and Plow (closest to Sebastopol town, wine and cider), tasting rooms in Graton, Ektimo tasting room (just north of Graton) and Russian River Vineyards (furthest north, on Rt. 116). Biking all the way to Forestville is about 8 miles one way.
Great place to stop in for dinner or drinks- most hopping spot in the town of Graton and surrounding area!
We just went to check out this beautiful grove of redwoods, with a nice trail network, good for easy/short hiking adventures. Be sure to stop in at Wild Flour Bread on your way there for picnic supplies, or on the way back!
