Brett: While I was working as Assistant Sports Editor at The Norwich Bulletin, Jaclyn came in one day for an interview and sat right next to me in the sports section to complete her paperwork. There were lots of other places to sit, so clearly she was looking for ways to get close to me from the start. Jaclyn: It was the only place to sit. Brett: When she got the job as a reporter, she picked a seat directly in my line of vision, about 20 feet away, so now I know that something is going on. Jaclyn: I was literally assigned that seat! It was next to the other reporters. Brett: Next thing you know, she’s finding excuses to visit the sports section to flirt, like “My nose is running. Can I please use one of your tissues?” Oldest trick in the book. Jaclyn: I had a cold. Brett: She was even laughing at things that I said that — let’s be honest — weren’t that funny. It was clearly all a play and I felt bad for the girl so I asked her if she would like to grab a drink after work some time. It wasn’t a date or anything. Jaclyn: It was most certainly a date. He begged me to see him again, too. The rest is (disputed) history.
