Grayson Highlands is on the VA-NC border. You will need a car to get to the park. If you're flying, we recommend Charlotte (2.5 hours) for the number of flights. Travel times: Nashville - 5 hours 50 minutes Pittsburgh - 6 hours 10 minutes Richmond - 5 hours DC - 6 hours 9 minutes Winston-Salem - 2 hours Philadelphia - 8 hours 30 minutes Wheeling - 5 hours 40 minutes
Amy and Brendan will be celebrating on Friday with a small ceremony for immediate family only. Saturday's celebration is the party!
Casual! We're in a barn in a park in the middle of nowhere. You will want to check the weather. Things can get much cooler in the mountains than expected. Otherwise, just don't wear an Alabama, Florida, or Pitt shirt.
We will provide a list to Grayson Highlands of expected guests and your parking will be covered. You will not need to pay to enter the park.
We'll have buffet-style BBQ with vegetarian options, and drinks. Please let us know if you have other food restrictions!
Unfortunately, Uber, Lyft, and cabs don't exist out here. Please plan to drive and make plans accordingly. And please be careful on the winding roads.
We are staying in Abingdon, VA - about an hour from the park. There are hotels in the cities of Abingdon, Boone, and Wilkesboro (all about an hour from the park). There are a few budget hotels closer, but the vast majority of options are vacation/cabin rentals and Airbnb. We highly recommend looking at vacation rentals/AirBNB. For those interested, there are Yurts in the park - without water and electricity - as well as camping options.
We'll have live music from Cruz Contreras!
Yes, it is. It's in the Appalachian Mountains which have a special place in both of our hearts. It's a bit logistically inconvenient. If you can't attend, we really do understand because...well...we didn't make this easy. If we can help with logistics and questions, just reach out!
Yes. Grayson Highlands has wild ponies. They're very cute.
