We're having a party! We're looking forward to a very casual celebration with good music in a barn in the wilds of Virginia during an early fall afternoon. Grayson Highlands State Park is located in Mouth of Wilson, VA (near the VA-NC border). The closest towns are Abingdon, VA (about an hour), Boone, NC (an hour), and Wilkesboro, NC (1 hour and 15 minutes). There are lots of Airbnbs/vacation rentals located around the park, as well as in and near Abingdon, VA. We will be staying in Abingdon, VA - which has also been named one of the best small towns for food. We highly recommend taking a look at AirBNBs and vacation rentals. There are also cabins and camping located nearby or within the park and few hotels, especially in Abingdon. The celebration is in Shelter 2 - "The Barn" at 2 pm. When you get to the park, you will follow the signs for "The Homestead" and park in the gravel lot. Because the park is located on a winding country road, we are planning for the celebration to end before dark. Please be careful on the roads. Parking is available near the shelter. There is a very short walk to the shelter and to the restrooms. Dress is casual! We're in a barn, in a park, in Southwest Virginia. Jeans are fine. Or if you're just feeling it, full-length sequin ballgowns are also cool if you don't mind your outfit maybe getting wet and/or dirty. Wear what makes you happy.
