Otherwise, you may have better luck flying into Atlanta, Georgia (ATL) or Nashville, Tennessee (BNA)--each a two-hour drive from downtown Chattanooga.

Scenic Drive [from Northeast]

If you're like Brian and want great views and tight turns (and you're coming from the Northeast), consider taking the Blue Ridge Parkway to Cherokee, hopping on US-74 W to NC-28 W and following it all the way to US-129 N into Tennessee. Ride the Tail of the Dragon until Dragon City, Tennessee. From there, take TN-72 W to US-411 S to TN-72 W to TN-322W to I-75 S.

Scenic Drive [from Southeast]

Driving from Florida? Power through Atlanta (remember to honk your horn...I've heard it helps) and stay on I-75 North until I-575 N. This eventually merges with GA-515 North; take this right into downtown Ellijay (STOP HERE for a cute downtown and for a cup of joe at Mountain Town Coffee). From downtown, hop on GA-52 West and enjoy lots of sharp turns and the Cohutta Overlook. 17 miles from the Overlook, turn left onto US-76 W and, in 3 miles, turn right onto US-41 W. Look for signs to get back on I-75 N, which takes you right into Chattanooga. Or...if you want to be boring, you can stay on I-75, but where's the fun in that?
