Arguably the nicest views on this side of the state. A short drive north, you can see the mountains from the roads/lots. Plenty of hiking trails around. Hikers arrive early - beware of potential traffic and parking.
About 90 minutes away from the venue is the summit of Mt Washington. You can drive up or take the cog, the second steepest railroad in the world! Don't worry, this mountain is the first at something: the highest wind speeds ever recorded on the planet. Stunning views at the highest point in all of New England. Weather can vary, even in the dead of summer, so pay close attention to forecasts. Even those may be unreliable.
Arguably the nicest golf course in the area. Approximately 20 minutes from Notch View Cidery and Hampton Inn White Mountain. You can call and say "Matt sent me". It won't give you a discount or anything, but if enough folks do that maybe Matt'll get one.
The Flume Gorge Trail is a one-way loop trail. This self-guided walk is 2 miles and takes approximately 1.5 hours
This is the trail where we got engaged! Not only that, this trail is what really gave us our love for hiking. Although the trail is not necessarily difficult, it is still essentially uphill only. Hiking or running shoes recommended. This trail has also since become one of the most popular trails in the state, with record crowds appearing last year to see the foliage. Keep this in mind.
We spent some time at the Woodstock Inn and loved every minute of it. The Inn has a great brewery and restaurant that distributes all over the state. They may even have rooms available!
Experience this 3.0-mile loop trail near Franconia, New Hampshire. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 57 min to complete. This is a very popular area for camping and hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. A very nice and swimmable/floatable lake awaits at the top, along with the Lonesome Lake AMC Hut.
