The laid-back California wine country you haven't heard of! Livermore wineries showcase wines and vines that rival Napa & Sonoma without the crowds, highs costs, or the need to rent a car. Uber out and enjoy multiple wineries within walking distance! Start at Steven Kent, then walk 3 minutes to The Singing Winemaker, another 4-minute walk to Dell Valle Winery, and the final 9-minute walk is so worth it to end at our very favorite winery: Concannon Vineyards.
We went here on our first date! Sabio’s small plates and seasonal dishes are to die for, perfect for a fancy dinner date or a laid-back brunch. The menu changes with the season and literally everything is delicious - you'll want to try them all! While in downtown Pleasanton, you can also grab a coffee from Inklings, snag a sweet treat from from Primrose bakery, enjoy hand-rolled ice cream from Icicles (try the "Bravacado"!), or peruse the whiskey bible at Beer Baron.
One hour west is San Francisco! Visit the Golden Gate Bridge, walk through Golden State Park (which is where we took our engagement photos!), watch the sea lions from Fisherman’s Wharf Pier 39, sample chocolate at Ghirardelli Square, pet kittens and drink tea at KitTea the cat cafe, enjoy world-class seafood at Bar Crudo, or experience dinner & a show with authentic Moroccan cuisine and local performers at Berber. Feel free to ask the Maid of Honor for even more local recommendations - she lives here!
If you’re a techie, you might love checking out some landmarks here in Silicon Valley! Visit the Google campus, drive by the original garage where Steve Jobs founded Apple, test drive a Tesla, and explore the Computer History Museum. Stay on the lookout for unique restaurants like Creator where your burgers are made entirely by robots, or Roger which employs robot table servers!
One and a half hours north is Sonoma Valley! Fancier than Livermore but not as expensive or crowded as Napa, Sonoma is the perfect getaway destination. We think the most gorgeous winery in Sonoma is BR Cohn, the best food and wine pairings are at Kendall Jackson, and Deerfield Ranch has the most unique experience in a wine cave.
One and a half hours north is Napa Valley, known around the world as California's premier winery destination. Napa is home to big-name wineries like Beringer, and also smaller, family-run wineries like the O'Brien Estate. Though we haven't tasted wine here, we did visit some gorgeous resorts like Harvest Inn.
