Welcome

We're so excited to share our wedding and love story with you! Above, you'll find links to useful information about the event, the area, and more. Continue below to learn a bit more about us and how we've come together. We're so excited to see you in October! - Megan & Chris

In the Beginning

"You are wearing a dress." - Christopher Boschen

We met at work in California. We both grew up on the east coast (NJ & PA), so it took each of us independently moving 3,000+ miles to meet! Early on, we both tried to find excuses to spend time with one another at the office, which was smack in the middle of where each of us were living at the time. For example, Chris often brought doughnuts to work. Rather than leaving them in the office's shared kitchen, he began distributing them from his desk so he could chat with Megan (and others! But mostly Megan...) when she came by for a doughnut. With doughnuts facilitating several chats, we learned just how much we both love baking, cooking, and generally enjoying food! The office dress code was casual, where the norm was jeans and t-shirts. Thus, the first day Megan wore a dress to work (wondering if it would catch Chris' attention), it worked: Chris was so stunned seeing her arrive that words failed him. Does he acknowledge it? Would a compliment be misinterpreted or inappropriate? Would NOT commenting be rude? In the span of seconds as Megan approached, Chris decided to "just act natural." The following ensued: "You are wearing a dress!" "I am." "It looks nice!" "Thank you!" Smooth! Following this smooth exchange, Chris awkwardly grabbed his coffee and escaped to his desk. Pleasantly bemused, Megan spent the rest of the day beaming, as this was the first moment she knew for sure that Chris liked her. We still laugh about this exchange to this day! The rest was easy. Together, we could be our own silly selves. Near our office building was a business park with cherry blossom trees and a little bridge and pond setup, frequented by ducks. We'd find ways to sneak lunches out there, and when the ducks would quack to each other, we’d pretend they were having duck arguments like an old married couple. Being together just felt natural - one might even say, “meant to be.”

Our First Date

“Marry the one who gives you the same feeling you get when you see food coming at a restaurant.” - Unknown

For a while, things continued as described above - Chris and Megan stealing moments and being decidedly less subtle than they would generally admit to, and finding more and more excuses to spend time at work together. They'd play tabletop games, paint miniatures, whatever - anything seemed agreeable if it meant an excuse to spend the time together. After what Chris would describe as "entirely too long," Megan finally agreed to a date, and Chris hatched a plan to wine & dine her at a local restaurant: Sabio on Main in downtown Pleasanton. At the restaurant, we were both equal parts nervous and excited. Megan was unprepared for Chris' chivalry and accidentally left him hanging with his hand on the back of a chair, thinking he was going to sit down rather than pull out the chair for her to sit! But even when Megan nervously ordered the "Oprah cake" instead of the "Opera Cake" when ordering dessert… Chris found Megan's first-date nervousness (and flushed face) irresistibly cute! The evening was perfect, and while Megan did voice how the host and servers “all seemed so happy and smiley," she didn't think too much of it at the time. It wasn't until months later Chris admitted he had called the restaurant three times that same day (much to the staff's amusement) to make sure everything would be perfect. We still laugh about it to this day! We go back to Sabio on Main every year to celebrate our anniversary.

The Journey

“I want a magical horse that fits in my pocket... and a ring of red amber that gives me power over demons. And an endless supply of cake.” ― Patrick Rothfuss

After 4 years of dating, we became each other's best friends. We moved in together. We explored what makes each of us happy - we baked and we crafted. We dressed up and attended Renaissance Faires. We weathered intense crunches at work, went to geeky conventions like PAX, rode horses, traveled and explored innumerable spots where we ate and tried new things. We couldn't (and still can't!) get enough of each other. We survived The Lockdown of 2020 with food-focused date-nights such as "Pizza tasting" with five varieties of takeaway pizza. We asked and answered tough questions like "Is takeout brunch just as good as brunch out?" (it isn't), and "Can we combine BBQ, Mexican, and Indian leftovers into a unified delicious dinner?" (Yes!) and "Who can use this leftover pumpkin pie to make the best pumpkin pancakes?" (it was Chris!). Together, we giggled our way through quarantine. Through video-game date-nights of Stardew Valley, partnering as Blitz and Lulu in URF, adventuring in Valheim, lording over our multiplayer RimWorld colony, setting up, modding, and playing through way too many Minecraft servers... Together, we adventured. We explored worlds, challenged enemies, created things and solved puzzles together. With a bond that made the lockdown of 2020 feel like a year-long staycation, we both knew in our hearts that this was meant to be.

The Proposal

“When you're a kid, you assume your parents are soulmates. My kids are gonna be right about that.” - Pam Beasley

Although his original proposal plans were dashed by Covid-19, Chris proposed to Megan on March 7th, 2021. Megan had suggested an idea for an at-home “movie-night” date, and Chris saw his opening. He suggested we make it even more fun and fancy, “a night at the theatre,” dressing up and expanding it with wine and charcuterie. Believing this whole date night was her idea, Megan had no clue the proposal was coming! Chris hatched a two-part plan - to hide his nerves about the evening and keep Megan unsuspecting, he'd surprise her with a gift that seemed unrelated and then, when she was relaxed again, he'd pop the question. As we settled in to our candle-lit, gussied up evening, Chris began to act suspicious. He mentioned to Megan that he had a gift for her. Megan admitted she was at first suspicious at the mention of a gift - was he going to propose?! When he presented a fancy Champagne to celebrate their Theatre Date, Megan smiled and relaxed to enjoy the date for what it was. Just a few moments later in our darkened theater, the walls suddenly burst to light - specialized snow-themed LEDs set the ring aflame from within its hand-crafted snow globe enclosure. Wintery crystals inspired by Alolan Vulpix surrounded the ring and glowed in the low light of the room. Caught completely off guard, Megan ugly cried immediately - so much so that she needed consciously rein herself in enough to say "yes!" before Chris had too long to wonder if it had all gone horribly wrong. The rest, as they say, is history!
