Things To Do

We're so excited to share some of our favorite places to eat, explore, and make new memories! San Diego has much to offer - happy adventuring!
San Diego Zoo & Safari Park

San Diego Zoo & Safari Park

2920 Zoo Drive, San Diego, CA 92101
, (619) 231-1515

As annual pass holders of the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, Bonnie & Stephen love spending time with the animals at both the Zoo and the Safari Park. If you have some time, stop by and say hi to our personal favorites: the rambunctious red panda or the only 2 Platypuses that exist in the US.

The Taco Stand

The Taco Stand

621 Pearl Street, San Diego, CA 92037
, (858) 551-6666

One of our favorite places to get Mexican food in all of San Diego, please take a moment to stop by the Taco Stand! Bonnie loves the Carne Asada fries and Stephen loves to bite into an Al Pastor burrito. And if you are not sure, you can never go wrong with the tried and true California Burrito!

Better Buzz Coffee

Better Buzz Coffee

909 Prospect Street, La Jolla, CA 92037
, (858) 255-8019

Everybody needs their coffee in the morning. Our favorite spot to get our buzz on is Better Buzz Coffee! While we have listed the La Jolla shop on our website, they have locations across all of San Diego County! We highly suggest stopping at a Better Buzz coffee shop near you. Bonnie's favorite drink is the "Hazelnut Divinity." During his lunch break, Stephen drives to the nearest shop and orders either the "Killer Bee" or "Honey Latte."

Torrey Pines Nature Preserve

Torrey Pines Nature Preserve

12600 N Torrey Pines Rd, La Jolla, CA 92037

Another of our favorite spots to hike on the weekends, Torrey Pines has the most picturesque beach in all of San Diego. These ancient cliffs stand tall against the white sand beach and blue waves. There is a 2-3 mile hike you can take up the hill that leads to beautiful views of the coastline. From the top of the hill, you can take the meandering trail downward to the beach, which we recommend seeing at low tide. From there you can hike back north on the beach until you reach the parking lot. If you would like to avoid paying for parking, there is a quarter-mile long stretch of free parking along N Torrey Pines Rd. Fun fact: The Torrey Pine (or Pinus torreyana) is an incredibly rare species of pine tree that is only found in two locations in the entire world: Here at this beautiful nature preserve and on San Miguel Island off the coast.

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

Ladera Street, San Diego, CA 92107
, (619) 525-8213

One of our favorite spots, the Sunset Cliffs are a gorgeous area overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean. We recommend parking along Ladera Street and walking south along the nature trails to see breath taking views of the cliffside. We recommend bringing a bite to eat and enjoy the sunset or the gorgeous views overlooking the waves as they lap against the rocks. There is also a small set of stairs that lead to a small cave and amazing spot to take photos. Be careful what time of day you visit, as those steps are difficult navigate the stairs at high tide.

Balboa Park

Balboa Park

2168 Pan American Road East, San Diego, CA 92101

Home to several beautiful museums and gardens, Balboa Park is situated just north east of Downtown San Diego. It has several gorgeous buildings with Spanish Colonial era architecture. There are many family friendly areas to consider visiting at Balboa Park. The San Diego Museum of Art, Natural History Museum, Botanical Building, Air & Space Museum, and Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theatre are just a few of the many things to see at Balboa Park.
