Grass Valley, CA

Our Story

Julia and Jesse met in the summer of 2018 while working as seasonal employees at Grand Teton National Park. While they started as casual acquaintances who lived next to each other (Julia in her van, Jesse in a small cabin), they soon were hiking together and became fast friends. As the summer flew by, they quickly realized that "friends" and "hiking buddies" didn't quite cut it. Julia asked Jesse to join her in Oregon for the winter season and the rest, as they say, is history. Many seasons, moves, miles, and the addition of one Roux dog later, they landed in Grass Valley, CA and were thrilled to find a spot to call a permanent home. First comes years of seasonal work, then comes marriage. On June 21, 2025, Julia and Jesse gathered in their backyard with parents and siblings and shared the vows they wrote together on a camping trip. Their good friend Jason officiated. It was a special day full of laughter and happy tears as they reflected on seven years of love and looked toward a bright future. The coming years are likely to be just as busy as the first few. Julia and Jesse hope to stay in the Grass Valley area and are planning on purchasing a home in the next year. Both currently work for the Tahoe National Forest: Julia as a public affairs specialist and Jesse as a forester. They both love working for public lands and share a passion for getting outside as much as possible. Lucky for them, Grass Valley is surrounded by enough forests, rivers, and mountains that it would take a lifetime to see it all. Sounds like a good 20 years plan. Julia and Jesse want to extend their heartfelt gratitude for all of the love and well-wishes they have received since. They are extremely blessed to have a wonderful group of friends and family who have supported and cheered them on all these years. Life truly is better when shared.
