Jonathan Fearne

and

Bonnee Rummler

November 1, 2025

Oak Hills, CA

FaceTime to RealTime

In May 2022, Jonathan was on vacation in Southern California, swiping through a dating app more out of boredom than any real intention. At the same time, Bonnee was doing the same in Huntington Beach, just passing time. Neither expected anything to come of it. But then came the swipe. Their profiles matched on May 16, just one day before Jonathan was set to fly back to England. Bonnee stopped scrolling when she saw his bright blue eyes and the Jurassic Park reference in his bio. Jonathan noticed her tan lines, relaxed smile, and something about her that felt genuine. What started as a quick exchange turned into hours of conversation—movie debates, laughter, and something neither of them could explain. From the start, it just made sense. They talked constantly, sometimes filling the space with conversation, other times just staying on the line while one of them made dinner or fell asleep. Despite the time zones and distance, they found a rhythm. And somewhere in that routine, it started to feel like home. In August 2023, Bonnee flew to London to see if what they had through screens could hold up in person. The moment they saw each other, they knew it already did. Those ten days were full of small but unforgettable moments. Coastal walks, late-night snacks, Sunday roasts, inside jokes, and one very intense rock-throwing contest. Jonathan surprised her with tickets to the Jurassic Park 30th-anniversary IMAX screening and a visit to the Harry Potter Studio Tour. But more than anything, it was about being in the same place at the same time for the first time. That December, Jonathan came to California. He met Bonnee’s family, visited her favorite spots, and rode the Jurassic World ride at Universal Studios Hollywood more times than anyone reasonably should. Theme parks quickly became their thing—from Disneyland Paris to Alton Towers, from Knott’s Berry Farm to their forever favorite, Disneyland Resort. With each visit, they built new memories, shared old traditions, and proved that they could make any place feel like their own. Their shared love of adventure extended to game days too, especially when it came to American football. Jonathan’s loyalty to the Carolina Panthers runs deep—lifelong and loud. Bonnee, already a casual sports fan, started to get pulled in too. Over time, her Panthers wardrobe grew, along with the shared highs and heartbreaks. In September 2024, they finally got to watch their team play live in Las Vegas and celebrated a rare and glorious win. Still, every visit ended the same way— a drive to the airport, a hug that that could never be long enough, and a formidable countdown to the next time. So they made a plan. On March 14, 2025, Jonathan flew back to California—this time with a ring and a secret. That night, with the help of family and friends, he proposed. Bonnee had no idea it was coming. He asked the question that made every late-night call, every airport goodbye, and every bit of distance worth it. Now, after years of long-distance love, quiet routines, and steady choosing, they’re finally stepping into the chapter they’ve both been waiting for. No more flights. No more goodbyes. Just home. And for them, home was never a place. It was always each other.
