Matt and I met on a dating app within two weeks of me moving to Boston for my residency (no time was wasted). The connection was almost lost when I accidentally gave Matt the wrong cellphone number, but fortunately he was persistent. Our first date was at Owl's Nest beer garden on the Esplanade during which Matt introduced me to the only beer I enjoy, hazy New England IPAs of course! Afterwards we made our way to Lolita to continue the conversation over margaritas and nachos. While waiting outside for our Ubers home, Matt very adorably asked me if he could give me a goodnight kiss...and the rest is history!
After our very first date I knew I REALLY had to figure out how not to blow it with this girl. Taking a card out of the "grand gestures" handbook, after our first date I asked her if she wanted to do a pop-up wine and oyster shucking event with me on the Boston Harbor...in about 2 months time. Well Grace kept me around for those two months, and it turned out to be one of the best dates I've ever been on. Flash forward two years later we re-lived that date with the same organization, East Boston Oysters, some close friends (who were all in on it), and some champagne this time. ...before you ask, no, I did not put the ring in an oyster like a pearl when I proposed.
