The resort is really nice (and big!) and has a lot to do for both adults and families! We love the massive lagoon-style pool with a swim-up bar, food truck featuring tacos for lunch, and indoor/outdoor lobby bar! The resort is right on the beach and includes kayaking and paddle boarding. There are also tennis and pickleball courts. It is next to a 36-hole golf course that hosts the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open. The resort also includes numerous restaurants, a spa, and a supervised kids' club.
One of our favorite places in Puerto Rico. El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System and is only 20 minutes from the hotel. We love exploring the lush hiking trails that lead to iconic lookout towers and refreshing natural swimming holes like Juan Diego Falls. It’s a vibrant ecosystem where you can experience everything from the song of the coquí frog to mist-covered summits and roadside waterfalls. For those who prefer a more relaxed visit, El Yunque offers several roadside stops that require no hiking at all. You can enjoy the 85-foot La Coca Falls and the panoramic 360-degree views from Yokahú Tower directly from the main road. The El Portal Visitor Center is brand new and provides accessible walkways and great views!
Luquillo Beach is a beautiful crescent-shaped beach about 10 minutes from that hotel and famous for its calm, turquoise waters and backdrop of the El Yunque National Forest. Just west of the beach entrance is the Kioskos de Luquillo, a strip of roughly 60 family-owned kiosks offering a massive variety of Puerto Rican street food, specialty restaurants, and souvenirs
Where we met! Old San Juan is a vibrant, historic district famous for its blue cobblestone streets and centuries-old Spanish colonial buildings painted in a rainbow of pastel colors. We love walking the cobblestone streets, stopping at restaurants and cafes, and exploring the forts El Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal, which offer breathtaking views of the Atlantic. Some of our favorites spots are: Cafetería Mallorca for a mallorca breakfast sandwich, Café Cuatro Sombras for coffee, El Convento's courtyard for an afternoon mojito, La Factoría for cocktails and dancing and Bodega Chic, Cafe Caleta and St. Germain Bistro Bar for almost any meal!
Balneario del Escambrón (beach near old San Juan), La Penultima and Mai Pen Rai near La Placita, Panadería España for quesitos and mallorca bread, and Piñones near the airport for local food on the beach.
There is so much to explore on the island! Some of our favorite things we have done include: Day trip and float on Gilligans Island, Sunset at Cabo Rojo, Ferry to Culebra and day on Flamenco beach, Diving in Rincon, Walk around Cueva Del Indio and nearby attractions in Arecibo, Beach Hopping all over the island, Coffee Farms in Adjuntas, Early dinner on the Pork Highway, and Kayaking in the Bio Bays
