Flight
For guests who are flying into Chicago, either Midway or O'Hare airports are fine. You can take public transit from either airport to downtown - from Midway, the Orange Line takes about 30 min to downtown; from O'Hare, the Blue Line takes about 45 minutes. Uber/Lyft is an option as well at both airports, but check the traffic first - often public transit is faster. If you are staying in a less central neighborhood of Chicago, that may affect which airport you prefer - please ask Steve and Laura if you have questions.
House Or Rental
Many of you may be considering a house or apartment rental for the weekend instead of a hotel. That's a great option to experience Chicago! If you want to be close to the wedding venue, consider the Pilsen neighborhood, known for its Mexican heritage and great art galleries. Other neighborhoods to consider: - Bucktown/Wicker Park - this is where Steve & Laura live, it has great bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and an elevated running/biking trail. Plan for 30-45 minutes to get to the venue from this neighborhood. - Logan Square - a formerly up-and-coming, now arrived, hipster neighborhood with great food. Plan for 45 min to get to the venue. - Lakeview/Lincoln Park - these neighborhoods give you closer access to Lake Michigan, where there's a great lakeshore biking & running trail.
Rental Car
If you are flying to Chicago, we would advise against renting a car. Public transit and cabs/Lyft are plentiful, and parking is often expensive!
Travel Note
If you are driving, there is a free parking lot at the venue. If the venue lot fills up, cheap street parking is plentiful nearby. A cab or Lyft to the venue from downtown will probably cost around $15-20.
