I remember going to a new youth group my 8th grade year and meeting this guy named “Logan Haley.” I thought to myself that he was the cutest guy I had ever seen. I told my mom when I got home, “I didn’t know that God made guys like that!” Needless to say, we quickly became friends and hung out often with our church friend group. I was always very intrigued by the way he worshiped and talked about God. I had never met anyone who had so much passion. He was like David from the Bible. Logan and I stayed good friends and were always excited to see each other throughout high school and during college breaks. About two years ago, his mom told me about him coming to Liberty for med school and I was so excited! My mom asked me later if I could see Logan and I getting together. I replied, “No way! We’re way too alike!” — thinking that only polar opposites would work well together. Logan later reached out to me and asked if we could get together after my first day’s classes. I was so excited, I had to accept! — and curl my hair a little extra just in case. ;) When I met up with him in the med school parking lot, I knew in my heart that something was very different. I felt a calmness that I had never felt. He seemed so grown up and mature. I could still tell that his heart was wild for God because of how he talked about how great He was in every day sentences. I had a weird feeling in my heart that day. I called my mom later and told her, “Don’t quote me on this, but I think I’m going to marry Logan someday.” About a week later, Logan and I hiked up Spy Rock and when we got to the top, we prayed for God to give us wisdom on whether or not we should date. It started raining super heavily while the sun was still shining on us. We felt God’s joy over us as we prayed. Mountains do seem to be our thing, because 6 months later, on another mountain, Logan got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I am so thankful that God brought this man to me in His timing.
I always found Bethany super beautiful — inside and out. Ever since we met, (I believe I was in 9th grade, and she was in 8th grade) I always thought she had a beautiful heart for the Lord, and her bright, fiery-red hair always caught my eye. I remember getting to know her through being on the same youth praise band at church, where she sang angelically. However, I wasn't really interested in dating anybody during high school, and I went off to college at UVA soon after that. Five years later, we had kept in touch here and there, but I would only see her at church on breaks from school. I do remember her being extra excited to see me on one Christmas break... Anyways, when I found out I was going to be at Liberty University for med school, I did some research on her Facebook profile to see... she was single! I then texted her the summer before med school started to see how she was doing and catch up. To my surprise, I found out she would be at Liberty for another year, since she changed her major. This got me scheming! ;) I texted her that we should hang out when I got to Liberty. So, the very first day she went back to classes (August 19, 2019) we reconnected and I showed her around the medical school. The whole time I remember trying to play it cool while also being intentional about asking her out. I asked her if she wanted to go swing dancing that Friday, which we did! We got ice cream afterwards too. While dropping her off, I asked her on a real "date" and she asked, "Was this not a date?" Smiling, I replied, "Yeah, it kind of was." So we went out to dinner that next weekend, went on a day hike the next day, and after 2 weeks of going on dates, we were officially together! (Ask Bethany how I asked her to be my girlfriend, it's a funny story!) I knew from the start that we were super compatible. It felt like we were made for each other. So, six months later, I asked her to marry me on top of a mountain. I'm so glad she said yes. :)
