how we met

It wasn't that sexy.

It was July 4th, 2010. Through a mutual friend, Beth finds herself at a party that Robert's family is hosting. Beth is introduced to Robert and his group of friends. They are lovely. In July of 2012, Beth and Robert take their friendship to the next level by becoming Facebook friends. They exchange birthday wishes for a few years. The story will remain this way for the next four years until one summer night in 2016, Beth and Robert find themselves at an Emo Night concert together with their friends. Robert, being the gentleman that he is, approaches Beth to say hello. However, in the process of giving Beth a warm and lengthy hug, he spills Beth's drink on her and is forced to buy her a new one. At the bar, Robert takes the opportunity to let Beth know that he has recently become single. Beth understands the assignment. The rest is history. the proposal

It was sexier, but still atypical.

On October 31, 2021, Beth and Robert embarked on an adventure to the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory where a photoshoot was scheduled to take place. The two main models for the shoot—their cars Bertha and Bruno—were looking beautifully spooky on this Halloween afternoon. Towards the end of the shoot, it was decided that the owner of the vehicles were welcome to join in on the festivities. It was at this time that Beth was craftily staged in front of Bertha—Robert in front of Bruno—and the two were asked to pose for what seemed like a cute and whimsical shot. Beth held her keys up with the utmost sass as she posed for the camera for what seemed like an eternity. (Photo below) And it must have been in real life, for the photographer eventually asked Beth to turn around, where her eyes met Robert, down on one knee, ring box in hand, and she said, "What the f*ck!" In true Robert fashion, he simply asked: "Would you like to marry me?" Beth said "yes" and, well, here we are.
