Things To Do

Mexico City

Mexico City, CDMX, Mexico

If you're coming to our wedding you will have to fly to Mexico City, then take a bus toward Morelos (the state) so any way or another you'll be stepping foot on it but DO take advantage of the many wonderful things this beautiful and chaotic city can offer. If you have inquiries tell us about it and we're very happy to give you suggestions about where to go, and of course eat (our favorite hobby). One of the big perks about Mexico is even the most expensive places in the city are extremely affordable if you're used to paying in dollars, so make it rain and come enjoy our hometown as a pretext of coming to our wedding!

Mexican Breakfast

Mexican Breakfast

If you want to really experience Mexico don't miss having a great Mexican breakfast. A Mexican breakfast is equivalent to an US brunch but cheaper, better and without all the fuzz. Mexico city has some great places to have breakfast including: Café Tacuba, San Angel Inn, most markets, Gruta Edhen, Eno, Azul Condesa, etc... Don't miss trying some conchas, churros, hot chocolate, huevos rancheros, molletes, enchiladas, enmoladas, chile relleno, ...

Tepoztlán

Tepoztlán, Mor., Mexico

Tepoztlan is a very nice town to visit in the state of Morelos (also Imanol and Bernardo's favorite small town). It is on the way back to (or from) Mexico City and it is a nice place to stop by, shop around, eat some delicious foods, and even visit the pyramid on el Tepozteco, which is in a majestic hikable mount that gives to the town. If you want to visit nice small towns for a day trip (maybe when going back on Sunday) this might be your best option! There are plenty of buses going to and from Tepoztlan to the city.

Santiago de Querétaro

Santiago de Querétaro, Qro., Mexico

Two hours north of Mexico City, this is the town where Imanol lived half of his life. It is a very nice underappreciated town with lots of history (one of the Mexican independence movements started there), legends and things to do. Don't miss the "night of legends" tour in downtown. We've discovered some really nice restaurants in Queretaro lately, in particular: Tikua (South east mexican food, i.e. MOLE) and Di Vino ( the owners are from Naples, making it have the best italian food we've had outside Italy, try the expensive pizzas at the front of the pizza menu, those are the closest thing to Italian pizza we have tried).

Quintonil

Quintonil

55 Avenida Isaac Newton, Ciudad de México, CDMX 11550, Mexico

One of our favorite restaurants in Mexico City. Make reservations with at least a month in advance if you want to have a great time at this restaurant.

Dulce Patria

Dulce Patria

100 Anatole France, Ciudad de México, CDMX 11550, Mexico

We try not to miss this place every time we go to Mexico. It is not in any of the big guides so that makes it easier to get a place. However, you'll have of the best Mexican meals you'll ever try.

Sud 777

Sud 777

777 Boulevard de la Luz, Ciudad de México, CDMX 01900, Mexico

A great restaurant south of Mexico City. We haven't been there in a while, but have very fond memories of it. On weekends they have a great foodtruck show on the back where, depending on the season, you may find the BEST fish tacos you'll ever try.

Barbacoa Santiago

Barbacoa Santiago

152 Carretera Querétaro - México, San Juan del Rio, Qro. 76807, Mexico

BEST TACOS EVER. It is important to know that they have NO STORE IN MEXICO CITY. There are a lot of restaurants that have called themselves the same because of the popularity of this place. However the real deal is located at the middle of the highway between Mexico City and Querétaro. Querétaro is a lovely town two hours north of Mexico City. It is totally worth to visit if you have an extra couple of days. Berni and I never miss going to this place. If you go, ask for either maciza barbacoa tacos or espaldilla tacos (for those adventurous enough you can try the pancita tacos). All of their food is really good but nothing beats those barbacoa tacos. You need to rent a car if you want to go to this place since no bus will stop at it on its way to Queretaro. It may be hard to spot and reach so once you pass the second toll on your way to Queretaro move to the right lane and drive slowly, take an exit after the restaurant "Cochinitos" to your right.

Barra Vieja

Barra Vieja

763 Camino de Santa Teresa, Ciudad de México, CDMX 01900, Mexico

Best fish tacos we've tried. The truck is owned by one of the best chefs in Mexico. The quality is great and they have the greatest care for their sanitary conditions ( rare for Mexico City). On weekends they are located behind the Sud 777 restaurant, at their parking lot. Try the raw tuna tostadas or their tacos gobernador, both are incredible. Also, be prepared for US priced tacos.

San Angel Inn

San Angel Inn

50 Diego Rivera, Ciudad de México, CDMX 01049, Mexico

To be honest we are not too thrilled about the food in this place. However, this historic restaurant is beautiful, the service is excellent and the food is quite good (although somewhat in the upper prices). It is worth visiting if you go to San Angel. Try to make reservations.

Sanborns de los Azulejos

Sanborns de los Azulejos

4 Avenida Francisco I. Madero, Ejido del Centro, CDMX 06000, Mexico

Mexico was used to be called "the city of palaces", and this one is one of the most beautiful ones. At some point a couple of decades ago, Carlos Slim purchased the place and placed a Samborns inside ( a popular chain of stores, where you can buy almost anything ). However, most of the place is composed of a Samborns restaurant where you can get a rather cheap and good Mexican breakfast while enjoying some beautiful views of the architecture and the surroundings. Try to get a table that looks towards Bellas Artes and pay attention to the beautiful Orozco mural at the stairs.

Café Tacuba

Café Tacuba

28 Calle de Tacuba, Ciudad de México, CDMX 06000, Mexico

Go have a delicious breakfast at Cafe Tacuba. Go there early otherwise their conchas (our favorite sweet bread runs out). If you go try their hot chocolate, freshly squeezed orange juice and green enchiladas. Berni also highly recommends their molletes.

Los Milanesos.

Olivar de los Padres, Olivar de los Padres, Ciudad de México, CDMX 01780, Mexico

https://www.timeoutmexico.mx/ciudad-de-mexico/restaurantes-cafes/los-milanesos Have you ever felt that your arteries lack a certain greasy thickness? Do you feel that heart attacks are overrated? Then this place is for you. These are Milanesa tacos, some of the best tacos we have ever tasted. They are the fattest thing you will probably eat in your life, but oh my are they worth the decrease in your lifespan. They are also super super cheap.

Fonda 99.99

Benito Juarez, CDMX 03100, Mexico
, 01 55 5559 8762

Great mexican food from the region of Yucatán. This place is cheap, delicious and has very long waiting times. However our mouth is watering just thinking about it. Don't forget to try the "Sopa de Lima" and "Cochinita Pibil".

Taxco

Taxco, Gro., Mexico

Taxco is a beautiful town not too far from Yautepec. It is famous for it silversmiths.
