We formally met in the summer of 2018 after crossing paths a handful of times socially while we both lived in Minneapolis. We became exceptionally close over the course of that summer, bonding over our shared love of fishing, music, sports, and being outside. Before India moved back to San Francisco to continue grad school, John asked to make it official and to try long distance, setting the foundation for everything that followed. The next three years were a mix of long distance and long stretches of time together. We faced the world side by side during COVID, adopted our beloved rabbit, Potato, and spent our days biking, fishing, making art, producing music, camping in the Boundary Waters, and learning how to slow down and build something meaningful together. There were several cross country road trips, including moves that took India from San Francisco to Salt Lake City and eventually to Denver, where we mutually decided it was time to fully build a life together and where we have now been for the last four years. From the very beginning, we have shared a deep sense of companionship. We have grown alongside one another, helped each other clarify what we want, and supported each other through change, challenges, and milestones. What started as an easy connection has become a steady partnership, and we are grateful for the life we continue to build together.
