This place is the absolute best. The view is insane. The rose is cheap. The beer is cheaper. And it was a vital hub of the French resistance to the Nazi occupation. There's no website because they've been far too busy fighting the good fight throughout history, but here's a brief write-up of this beloved institution: https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/le-cercle-republicain-de-gordes
We crushed the lamb here. It was awesome.
We crushed more lamb here. It was wonderful.
We had something else here. I think it was fish. Whatever it was, it was amazing.
This hilltop historic village is unbelievable. With a 12th century church, 15th century houses, two charming restaurants (Le Petit Cafe and L'Echauguette), and a story of artists hiding from Nazi persecution behind its delapidated walls, this is a medieval town you will never forget.
Imposing chateau from the 10th century, remodeled during the Renaissance in the 1500s. High stone walls and round towers glow orange in the morning sun. A promenade around the castle turns into a winding road with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Travel is fun.
There are a ton of beautiful biking and hiking trails around the village. We haven't gotten around to doing any of that yet, but it's definitely worth checking out. More in-depth ideas to follow.
