Flight

Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

This is the most direct airport you can fly into. Flights are typically more expensive than flying into Seattle, but you will save on the cost of a rental car if you don’t want one. FYI the airport is about 8.9mi from the heart of downtown Vancouver.

Flight

Seattle-Tacoma (SEA)

If you want to add a bit more exploration (and a cheaper flight), fly into Seattle, rent a car, stop at Pike Place Market for a coffee (and if you’re like Emma, a donut) and drive up to Vancouver! There are 4 different border crossings you can use. Check them out (and current wait times) below. We recommend downloading a map (and a music playlist), buying a paper one or printing off directions.

Hotel

OPUS Vancouver

322 Davie Street
Vancouver, BC V6B 5Z6, Canada
 +1 604-642-6787

A boutique hotel that is 0.11 miles from the venue. If you don’t have a rental car for your visit, this is a perfect location for picking up a cab/Uber/Lyft, a ferry, or a bike to explore the other areas in Downtown Vancouver. Block rate starts $379CAD. You can book a room through the link above or by calling the hotel directly. Please use our last names when booking for the group rate.

Train

The SkyTrain Canada Line

This line connects travelers from YVR to Downtown Vancouver. It takes about 30 minutes and costs between $8-10CAD. Please visit the website below for more trip planning, fares, and TransLink schedules (train/bus) information.

Travel Note

AirBnB and VRBO

Both sites have good options that are slightly less than hotels, especially if you share with others. The venue is in Yaletown, but if you are planning on staying before or after, there are tons of other neighborhoods that might have cheaper rates and more space than the high rise buildings near Yaletown. Ben and Emma will be staying in a loft in Gastown if you want to be closer to the action.

Flight

Seaplanes

Quick way to get to and from local islands. There are several companies. Check out their rates and destinations from the website below. Generally, the closest islands are about 30-45 minutes away and about $200CAD for a round trip.

Travel Note

BC Ferries

The BC Ferries travel to the surrounding islands dropping you at places such as Victoria, Nanaimo, Bowen, etc. See the website for schedules. The passenger fare is $17.20CAD, the vehicle fare is $57.50CAD. Their website is slightly difficult to navigate, but they are very helpful if you give them a call.

Travel Note

False Creek Ferries

These ferries take you up and down False Creek to destinations such as Yaletown and Granville Island. They are short trips on small boats (pedestrian traffic i.e. no bikes). You pay onboard. The website says you can pay in US or Canadian cash as well as with credit or debit cards. When we went, they only accepted Canadian cash so it might not be a bad idea to have some handy. You can buy a $16CAD all day pass.
